Does anyone know when The Dragon stopped printing articles related to original D&D? In the late 70s they were running both OD&D and AD&D articles, but I'm wondering exactly when they abandoned OD&D entirely.

The link above is a list of all Classic DnD and Mystara articles in Dragon. Looks to me like #200 was the last one that featured Classic Dnd material. Later Mystara articles were for 2E or 3E

Cool resource, but I'm just looking for stuff pertaining to original D&D -- i.e., the 1974 boxed set and supplements -- and those articles appear to be for the 1983 Basic, Expert, etc., boxed sets.

The first issues of The Dragon picked up where The Strategic Review left off in 1976, and had articles for this ruleset. As the AD&D core books were being published in 1977-1979 it started covering those rules in parallel. So I'm wondering when it officially stopped supporting the original game; my guess is that it would have been not long after that, but before the Mentzer (and perhaps even Moldvay) Basic sets were published.

According to the Dragondex (http://www.aeolia.net/dragondex/ ) there are OD&D articles in issues 1-29 of The Dragon and all seven issues of The Strategic Review.

Their index does have some obvious omissions, though.

EDIT: Way too many omissions, in fact. So if anyone has better information, I'm still interested.

They never really announced when they started doing AD&D and stopped doing OD&D. As the AD&D books came out through '78 and '79, the submitters generally just started using those sources instead of the OD&D sources.

Obviously, everything in The Strategic Review and the first 20 or so issues of The Dragon were for OD&D, as AD&D wasn't out yet. In the 20's, AD&D was slowly phased in. By the 30's, pretty much everything was AD&D, and if it was for BD&D the article would specifically say so.
