It a dungeon's and dragons box, with a dragon sitting on a pile of treasure with a wizard in the bottom left and an armored archer in the bottom right attacking it. There are three beige books inside, titled:"Men and magic", Monsters and Treasure", and "The Underworld & Wilderness Adventures". There are some other books inside aswell...

What is this thing?

a combination of several editions of Dungeons & Dragons

i'm guessing the 3 brown booklets are from the Original Collector's Edition of the white boxed set

the other box with dragon and wizard and warrior are from the Holmes edition of Basic D&D. otherwise known as 2edD&D.

Seriously, whatever you do, don't throw them away. People will pay good money for them depnding on the book's condition. Growing up, my father was disappointed that I blew my money on D&D books. When he realized how much they still were worth later on in my life, he took back those words.

What are the other books called?

If that box with the dragon, wizard and archer is basically a blue colour, then you've got the box I started D&D with when I was young and happy.

Mine got treated poorly, then eventually was thrown out one day in one of those fits of despair and depression that led me to think I had to completely clean out my room to "get my life in order." Painful mistake! I threw out so much stuff that day! Stuff I'd been hanging onto because I loved it.... I even threw out my Differential Aptitudes Test result, the one proving to all my teachers that, yes, I really was a genius after all. (I was a C student all through school until I hit university.) (Then I became an A student for a year, followed by a D student, then an F student, and finally a working class shmoe.)

(Oddly enough, I'm happier now than I ever was in university. And during my D and F years, that's really saying something! Good times.... :embarrass :D )

So yes. Treasure. You've found a worthy haul indeed.
