+1 Caster Level at minimum cost

Mar 16, 2008 21:41:48 I'm currently building an 18th Wu Jen/Jade Phoenix Mage for a game that will go up to 20th level (this is a replacement for the character that died last session). The reason I'm going Wu Jen is for the novelty/power that goes with using the spell Giant Size. Right now, it will make me Gargantuan--but if I can add just +1 to my caster level (I have Practiced Spellcaster, so my CL is 18 right now), I'll become Colossal. I don't want to invest a feat on this, or too much money--one more level and it becomes irrelevant. However, if anyone has a cheap solution, let me know. In case this matters, Giant Size is a level 7 arcane Transmutation spell. It doesn't matter if the solution doesn't work for any other spells, I only need this one boost, and then only for now.

Mar 16, 2008 22:03:30 Create Magic Tattoo out of Spell Compendium. If you or a member of your party can't get it as a known spell, just get it in Runestaff form. The rules for a Runestaff can be found in the Magic Item Compendium.

Or maybe you could just go off an buy an Orange Ioun Stone?

Mar 16, 2008 22:07:42 Well, if traits are an option, the spell gifted trait would give you a +1 transmutation spells, but it would reduce the caster level of your other spells by one.

You could use the Spellgifted trait, or the Ring of Arcane Might (CA/MIC), or...

Mar 16, 2008 22:25:15 Orange Ioun Stone if put into an item slot costs 15k, which is lower than Ring of Arcane Might (20k IIRC). You'd have to confer with your GM over which slot, Vest makes the most sense to me, Spellcaster level normally being a class-based ability.

Mar 17, 2008 5:09:37 The Jade Phoenix Mage have a stance that raises your CL by 1, named Mystic Phoenix Stance. You get it at JPM lvl 2.

for a measly 350g while you use it as a focus in a spell it gives you +1 cl for luck domain spells and transmutation spells.
