1 or 2 Weapons

I am trying out a character concept witch is both obvious and has been done before, though not by me. Also, I am thinking of a few things that might perk the character up some.

I have been recently trying out ways to make a Grim Reaper build, that is really good with criticals. I have been trying out different Weapon Master builds, (my DM is allowing the Weapon Master PRC from the 3.0 Sword and Fist. Don't know if it has been remade for 3.5 and don't really care if it has) I thought of using a Greatsword, Bastard Sword, Rapier, Scimitar, and finally the Scythe, which is where I am now headed, which is why this is a Grim Reaper build. (The Rapier looked really cool, especially coupled with Swashbuckler class, and then the Duelist PRC, though it wouldn't get really good until around 24, which is tooo long.)

So I am thinking of making the Reaper build using Fighter and Weapon Master. Then I thought about using the Monkey Grip Feat so he can Duel Wield the Scythes. The more I thought about it, in my mind I could picture it, and it would look cool. Though, I am not sure if it would be as good as just using 1 Scythe. With 1 Scythe he will get 1.5 X Str and his Power Attack would have greater use. Though, With 2 Scythes, he would have even greater chances to get more criticals. So what do you think would be better, 1 Scythe, or 2 Scythes?

Lastly, I have most recently decided to give the character at least 1 level of Warblade, to get the use of Weapon Aptitude, so he could actually become a Weapon Master and switch which weapons he is a Master with from day to day.

Monkey Grip does not allow you to dual wield scythes, actually.
Warblade is good for many reasons, Aptitude being the least of them - Blood in the Water simply screams for usage.
Double kukris are probably your best bet when going for criticals. If you can get them made of kaorti resin, then you're golden.
Weapon master from S&F may be updated, however the Kensei from OA is almost exactly like him and was not, btw.

Hmm... You sure it doesn't? I thought it treated weapons as one size category smaller than they actually are for a -2 to hit. Well, where I saw it work was in Neverwinter Nights 2, and that is not the best source for seeing how the rules work. It looked cool though, so assuming I could convince my DM to allow it to work that way, then would it be better to go with 1 or 2? For the same reasons given originally.

I checked it out and your right, that is how it works. Though this is still great if I decided to make my Chain Fighter Weapon Master, particularly with Exotic Weapon Master thrown in. "Woohoo, threaten 20' even if they are behind cover."

Is there any way to wield 2-handed weapons 1-handed?

Maybe design a new Improved Monkey Grip feat, which allows said bonuses to apply to weapon of your size to make them work like a weapon of one size category smaller.... Actually, isn't there a Feat already that allows you to act as if you were one size category larger?

Would this work?

Not sure... I am not sure how the rules cover a Large size creature wielding a Medium sized 2-handed weapon.

They don't. In 3.0, weapons had inherent sizes and Monkey Grip worked like you thought. This was changed in 3.5, so now a two-handed weapon is a two-handed weapon even if it's smaller than you.

Weapons Master was updated in name only. The class that is supposedly an update bears no resemblance to it at all, so if you've got DM permission, go for it.

GoliathsRos and Half GiantsXPH have the Powerful Build ability, which lets them wield weapons designed for a larger creature. They do come with LA, though, it's probably not worth it.

Monkey Grip is generally considered a lousy feat, unless you're already starting out really quite big. From medium-large, the damage increase just isn't big enough to justify the -2 to hit.

If you don't mind being evil, the other way to cheese out criticals is to hit up Disciple of DispaterBoVD, which gets some truly obscene abilities. Combine that with Weapons Master and you're laughing.

Bear in mind though that anything immune to crits for any reason - and there are a fair few - will make you completely useless.

I know about the Crits thing, but with Power Attack, and other things, the fight is tougher, but still doable.

Mostly, what I am going for is trying to find some way to use two Scythe's simply because when I played the character in NWN2, I picked up a second and used it and it looked cooler than hell. Other than that, the original idea, just had one scythe... Maybe I can make a homebrewed Feat for it, or just drop it.

Im thinking a warblade (with a decent INT) Disiple of dispater kensi, with the prismatic burst weapon enchantment, and improved critical, and the feat that adds 4 to confirm. Take a few magic items(custom ones that will need DM approval), or abilities that allow you to crit things immune to crits and your golden.

The scyth is decent for crits, but you would get more crits (which activate crit dependant weapon enchants) with a rapier scimitar, or kukuri. Though for character concept a scyth is fine.

Power Critical[General, Fighter] (CWar p103)req:Weapon Focus, Base Attack Bonus +4
Gain a +4 bonus to confirm a threatened critical with your chosen weapon.

Improved Critical[General, Fighter](PH p95)req: Base Attack Bonus +8,
Proficiency with the chosen weapon
The threat range for the chosen weapon is doubled (20 becomes 19-20, 19-20 becomes 17-20, 18-20 becomes 15-20). Does not stack with Keen Edge or any other effect which also improves threat range.
