One of my favorite threads, LordofProcrastination's 10^100 Elite Optimization challenge, has been lost to the white screen of death.

I recall many entries and winners in the challenge, but at the time one notably absent (unless I missed it somehow) was a spellcaster.

I believe their winning conditions were different- they had to have caster level 100, and 100 or more spells available to cast with a DC of 100 or more.

By standing on the shoulders of giants, I believe that finally such a challenge can be answered successfully.

Wizard 5 / Red Wizard 5 / Stoneblessed 3 / Shadowcraft Mage 4 / Spellthief 2 / Tainted Scholar 1

Feats (including bonus from Wizard, Red Wizard, and 2 flaws):

Tattoo Focus, Spell Focus (Illusion), Node Spellcasting, Reserves of Strength, Arcane Manipulation, Heighten Spell, Metanode Spell, Earth Sense, Arcane Disciple (Luck), Earth Spell, Master Spellthief, Sudden Widen.

First, use Circle Magic +  Greater Consumptive Field + Earth Spell + Master Spellthief to fuel a Node Genesis, which we cast as a Shadow Figment. Widen it. That's going to be cast at a caster level of at least:
40(Circle Magic)+19(Earth Spell)+29(GCF)=78, doubled to 156 by Master Spellthief.

Once we access the resulting Node, after it matures, it will boost our caster level even higher. So that requirement is thoroughly met. The giants on whose shoulders I am standing, BG residents, have calculated a final caster level of 272 possible for this build.

Next, we put on as many Rings of Wizardry (0th) as we can. We Heighten some 1st level spells to 20th level and use Arcane Manipulation to break them into 0th level slots. That's 40 each, doubled by the Ring of Wizardry. We can do this 3/day, so that's 120 0th level slots. Use Circle Magic to Heighten them all to 9th and use Spell Engine to trade them out for other spells. Then, Heighten those to 20th level using Circle Magic again.

There we have it- well more than 100 20th level spells prepared.

What we need to do next is get our DCs high enough. We cast spells for awhile until our Depravity score is 120. That's +60 to the DC of any spell. They are also 20th level spells. The DC is already:
10+60(Depravity)+20(level).

We use Shadow Miracle to cast Divine Insight to go ahead and Use Psionic Device to get a Psychic Reformation on our Simulacra. We'd like them to have Cooperative Spell. Then, once they Magic Jar some Tiny humanoids and get nice and close, they can provide the bonus needed to get our DCs up to 100.

Figures I would mistype 'challenge' just precisely then.

I made a copy once of the full rules, this is it:

And now, for something different.

A great deal of the optimization challenges and extreme builds focus on the development of a single capability to enormous lengths. Yes, efforts are made to keep characters playable and somewhat versatile, but somehow, they don't seem quite... up to the reputation and standards of the CO Board.

To this effect, I propose the 100^10 Elite Optimization Challenge, an effort to develop truly monumental characters with power, flexibility, and sustainability.

The Challenge:
Create a character that can produce stats required by the 10 following goals:

1) 100 AC
2) +100 to hit
---- 2a. Capable of doing this at least once a round
---- 2b. Waived for casters who can produce save DCs of 100+
---- 2c. Waived for a maximum of 3 rounds during the challenge whilst buffing.
3) Deals 100 damage average per round
---- 3a. This damage can be melee, at range, or created by spells/effects.
4) +100 bonus to a selected skill check
---- 4a. This bonus must be applicable to any and every subtype of your selected skill check.
5) 100 ft movement speed
---- 5a. Must exercise this movement twice in the challenge and still maintain stats
6) +100 Bonus on either Fortitude, Reflex or Will Saves
---- 6a. This bonus must be applicable to any and every subtype of your selected save.
7) 100 spell-levels castable
---- 7a. Must cast 10 of these spell levels during the challenge
---- 7b. Yes, psionics count.
8) 100 hit points (don't laugh until you read the next one...)
9) Survive 100 points of possible damage each round
---- 9a. 10 damage of 10 different types each round
---- 9b. Fire, Cold, Sonic, Electricity, Acid, Profane, Divine, Piercing (silver and magic), Bludgeoning (cold iron and magic), and Slashing (adamantine and magic)
---- 9c. The elemental and divine damages may be reduced by resistances and immunities. Evasion and Improved Evasion do work to reduce these if you make a DC 100 Reflex save each round. Damage reduction also functions as normal vs the melee damages.
---- 9d. These points of possible damage are dealt to all cohorts, animal companions, mounts, etc, involved in the challenge.
10) Must sustain all of these stats for 100 seconds (that's effectively 17 rounds)

The Rules:

Permissable Material:
+ All WotC Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Products
---- The first exception is Unearthed Arcana, from which no material is allowed
---- The second exception is Thought Bottle, an item from Complete Arcane, which disrupts XP calculations
+ Wizards.com-based web enhancments and chracter variations (i.e. The Psychic Rogue, Arcane Duelist, etc)
+ In all cases, use the most-up-to-date, errata'd version of any material.
---- 3.0 edition material that has not been errata'd is impermissable

Character Ability Scores:
32 point ability buy, as outlined in the DMG pg 169.

Character Experience:
This is a challenge intended for ECL 20 entries. Precisely, characters have 190,000 xp, the exact amount needed to obtain level 20. XP can be spent on item creation, ritual completion, permanent spells, etc, but the character will face level loss.

Cash:
760,000 gp per character. Maximum of 190,000 spent on any one item. Cohorts gain standard wealth for their character level (see pg 135 in the DMG), while any followers must be outfitted by the player. Custom items are allowed, but they must follow the guidelines (and spirit) of the DMG and Skip Williams' articles on the matter. (Those articles can be found here: Obviously, select "Making Magic Items" (www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/r...)). I don't want to see any Rings of True Strike for 8,000 gp.

Nit-picking:
I am open to comments and suggestions for improving this challenge. Some pre-emptive question-and-answers.

Q: Isn't doing all of this at once for so long impossible?
A: That's what we're going to find out. Can't know until we try. Even if you can't get all of them, at least attempt to be the one to meet the most of the requirements.

Q: How about infinite broken loop X, can I use that?
A: Sure, but will it really help you to meet every challenge? Will you gain anything from borrowing someone else's old loophole? Be creative where you can.

Q: Do I have to get exactly 100? Can I go over?
A: Yes, you can go over, silly literalist.

Q: How much time do I get for set-up and buffing?
A: As much as you want. Just remember that there are specific rules about maintaining these stats, so pay close attention to ability durations...

Q: What about Carnivore's bats? Or scads of followers?
A: Go for it. Though note that the 100 damage/round of challenge #9 does apply to your little pals as well.

Q: What do I have to do to submit a character?
A: That's up to you. You can post a complete build or just suggest a line of thinking about how to meet certain parts of the challenge. I'm not going to be strict about formatting, but at least clarify the classes, abilities, and tactics used in your attempt.

Q: Why are you doing all this?
A: My goal is to have fun in producing a truly kick-arse sets of characters.
I view the 100^10 Elite Optimization Challenge as a way to get the CO board up in arms and pushing its limits.

Wow, I had completely misremembered the requirements- my brain must have secretly generated caster winning conditions far in excess of LordofProcrastination's (I demanded 100+ spells, caster level 100+, DC 100+). The original only requires 100 spell levels castable, and waiving the +100 to hit requirement for casters achieving save DCs of 100+.

Reserves of Strength and Shadow Miracles, along with the caster level of at least 200, make most of these challenges easily possible.

For +100 AC, a decent shapechange target, a few buffs, and a big Reserves of Strengthed Spiderskin or something similar should serve.

100 damage/round is a simple requirement for this build- it's got 10+ 9th level spells to throw around for each round of the challenge. It can achieve that just by Maximized Time Stop +  Shadow Miracle for 5 Delayed Blast Fireballs.

+100 to skill checks will come (like the +100 save bonus) from a Reserves of Strength, Shadow Miracled Owl's Wisdom.

For the damage, just put up resistances/immunities: Greater Ironguard, elemental is easy, and Shadow Miracle in a Greater Vigor.

Can't we reconstruct this and all the entries from web.archive.org? We just have to get the right versions of the links to put in there, right?

Would be great, I'd suggest to make a new thread for that, without the typo ;)

um, it's already reconstructed in its entirety in the thread I linked above.  it's just in successive posts.
all the links are broken, and I think that the webarchive has disappeared (which wouldn't be the first time).
I tryied to change the title, but it doesn't seem to be an option in the new forum format.  I'll PM a mod to see what can be done.

EDIT: did this.  hopefully they can do it soon.

jgumbryx --- yeah the [wotc_archive] appeared for a short period of time, and then disappeared again.
I think a dedicated webarchive.org address with the "6 digit original thread number" works.
Stuff has been found on occasion.

Arkaryus --- hey don't worry ... my kitty avatar's english is questionable.
YES !
Each one of the builds were done by (former) board Heavyweights.
CO-builds sometimes reach into Imaginary Stratospheres,
relative to non CO-builds. But they are legit rules based builds.
The fact that the rules allow such craziness, is very Frightful to some.
