| #1zylo_drizztOct 02, 2012 3:15:05 | alright so heres my character race:elan Class: telepath 8/ psion uncarnate 10 Idea: The dm already told us "Types of monsters you will be fighting: giants, dragons, lizard-folk, dinosaurs, aberrations, undead. Classes of monsters you will be fighting: fighter, cleric, sorcerer, wizard, druid, rogue Alignment you will be fighting: lawful evil, neutral evil, chaotic evil, neutral neutral, lawful good" and told us no evil. Told us to bring our a game. So i turn to you all. What else i got so far that i know i wanna keep: elan substitution levels from dreamscarred press (prefer if i could use it with erudite) psion uncarnate 10 racial feat for taking even less damage. Things that would be nice to keep: embedded psycrystal Things i got right now that can be changed: disipline, I got feats for concentration and that allow me to maintain concentration up to a swift action, allow me to move and cast a standard action spell with concentration, feats that make me tougher (psionic body and feats that go off that that eventually lead all my feats to being psionic) powers What I was going for: making a very tough caster (without relying on too many powers) that i could use multiple powers a round (or at least maintain 1+ at the same time) Gp limit:550,000 Lets see what you get and thanks in advance one other thing, its basically no roleplaying, kill the monster, survive, move on repeat. |
| #2KruskOct 02, 2012 15:17:30 | Whats your goal? What sort of character do you want to play? What books can you use? |
| #3zylo_drizztOct 03, 2012 2:21:04 | at the risk of sounding like a smart mouth What I was going for: making a very tough caster (without relying on too many powers) that i could use multiple powers a round (or at least maintain 1+ at the same time) I can use any wizards published books and dreamscarred press. stats rolled 18/17/15/15/13/11 cant use more than 200000 on any 1 item i think thats everything |
| #4New-ShadowOct 03, 2012 10:06:23 | Two PrC's I can see right away that Might work for you are Dragonslayer from Draconomicon and Sanctified Mind from Lords of Madness (the latter PrC especially if you are going epic (post level 20)). Dragonslayer gives immunity to fear effects (at first level!!!), d10 HD, full BAB, 5/10 casting (though you may want ask your DM if it boosts manifesting), DR/-, resistance 10 to any non-Force energy damage, and full Martial weapon anf Armor prof.s. S.M. gives Power Resistance as its capstone ability (if you are using magic/psionic transparency, say hello to spell resistance), in addition to boosting manifesting levels or divine casting levels 5/6 (no manifesing boost at first level though), plus giving a Smite attack vs. psionic using creatures (the flavor of the class is anti-evil psionics users, but the abilities can be used against any alignment). Illithid (sp?) Slayer from XPH could also work for you too. |
| #5zylo_drizztOct 03, 2012 18:30:49 | oh and i forgot to add the sorts of powers i was thinking bout. I like powers with long durations (especially damaging) ones that have a variety of uses, also based on what i have right this moment, i like concentration based powers. @new-shadow: i look into them however if it takes more than 3 levels to get alot of those then chances are i wont take them @krusk: havent you replied two times to my threads? |
| #6alsebraOct 04, 2012 13:10:37 | He may have, but it may be a different game. Even if not, it's a nice gesture to the boards to list what you have access to (at the very least)...if you don't, the boards may offer up something that you can't use. |
| #7zylo_drizztOct 04, 2012 16:25:14 | i thought if you didn't mention things then all was open oh well, anyone else have ideas? |
| #8alsebraOct 06, 2012 10:34:23 | There have been plenty of posts on these boards where the topic creator has posted without specifying their book options and, when someone offers up something that is denied, they come back saying that it's not available (for whatever reason...no access, DM denial, etc). I'd have to spend quite a bit of time with my books...time I don't have at this point. I'll see what I can scrounge up when I get more of a chance (possibly Monday). You may want to ask your DM if other books are available...I've got access to some third-party stuff (Swords & Sorcery, Green Ronin, etc) that may have options. |
| #9zylo_drizztOct 06, 2012 11:48:02 | so far the only off publishers i can have right now is dreamscarred press, and the only reason i got that is because of so few options for psionics, what do you guys think of the psycarnium infusion idea that ive seen as one of the weekly optimizations? it seems like a good way to keep myself running all day long |
| #10alsebraOct 08, 2012 14:32:44 | Clarifications needed: Elan substitution levels (no access to anything Dreamscarred) Embedded Psycrystal (no idea what or where this is) Party set-up and specialties (Ranger, smiting character, etc) One thing I can see immediately is that you can't drop Psionic Body as it's a pre-req for Psion Uncarnate. If you don't mind me asking, why are you taking PU? If it's for roleplay reasons, I can't argue, but it doesn't really add all that much to any character (barring incorporeality)... |
| #11zylo_drizztOct 08, 2012 19:28:17 | elan sub lets me give up eithe one of my first level powers to allow me to spend pp on any power and gain a reserve pp until the end of the turn for my racial features. embed psicrystal allows me to have a psycrystal in your body, gives u everything a psycrystal does except its also for you, kinda, like telepathy and pr and instead of int bonus you get initiative bonus. do not have party set up because we are not supposed to talk bout our characters. Whats wrong with PU? i like the incorporeality as well as infinite access to some abilities like assume likeness, telekenetic force, and the touch for instance. |
| #12radicaltaoistOct 15, 2012 8:54:04 | Putting a link to the Dreamscarred Press SRD for the record. Solicit Psicrystal is a definite power pick, no question. A definite question is what you plan to do with psion Uncarnate. You have 10 levels in it; do you want to possess a creature, possess an item, what? Why psion uncarnate in particular? |
| #13zylo_drizztOct 15, 2012 18:06:25 | I must have missed the part about possesion. ive always wanted to make a psion uncarnate, i really like the durability, the manuverability, the at will powers, pretty much being a ghost is pretty awesome. i was going to take alot of concentration powers but it seems i only found like maybe 5 or six which was going to be a major part of my build with mobile spellcasting (manifesting) an impressive taking 10 on concentration as well as taking the feat that allows me to concentrate on a power as a move or swift action which would allow me up to maintain 2 powers and manifest another or maintain 3 powers. then i saw psycarnium warrior and i was thinking of incorporating that somehow but now i dont know at all. my goal was to make an incredibly hard to kill/ pin down character/ manifesting multiple powers. idk now my build has kinda went to sh** after i found only a few concentration powers. i wanted long duration powers that would allow me to put the pain on round after round. maybe im using the wrong character for all this lol |
| #14radicaltaoistOct 15, 2012 18:52:49 | The best base class for Psion Uncarnate is Ardent, if you take the Practiced Manifester feat. Repose mantle unlocks Solicit Psicrystal. Go with Law for Grip of Iron and Force for Telekinetic Maneuver, and you can uber grapple. I think the Energy mantle unlocks Energy Current, another concentration power; Force should unlock Psionic Telekinetic Sphere for your defense. |
| #15zylo_drizztOct 15, 2012 19:07:34 | hmm could I grab a level of psion to get abberant manifesting and still have it work? |
