I am relatively inexperienced with spell casting couple that with I am very new with BoED spells and my question is for my 12th Sorcerer spell list. I have limited spells and must choose wisely so I am looking for advice on this selection. I have a few of the basics down, and I am being allowed to "play" with spell list as DM understands my situation. I have, as for now anyways, selected Wages of sin for my 6th, I also like Celestial brilliance, we lack a Cleric so this is me at least helping vs undead, also it will aid vs magical darkness. I know Im missing the majority of good spells, any good suggestions that you have experience with would be appreciated. I didnt really look at the spells that cost me 1d3 pts of str etc. to cast, are any of these worth while?

As a Sorcerer I am Cha based and I was looking for more ways to max out this attributes contributions. And to further I would be i terested in seeing how you CO OP'S max out your main casting attribute, and how you find ways to max out its uselfullness.

example I picked the prc swift blade and now my cha adds to initiative, I suppose if I wanted to completly break this pc I could of 2 level dipped paladin, and I picked power of personality.

Maxing Spellcasting Stat:

Race: Kobold
Age: Venerable
1st Level Feat: Dragonwrought (Races of the Dragon)

Dragonwrought lets you get the Venerable bonuses (+3INT/WIS/CHA) without the ability penalties (-6STR/DEX/CON). The +3INT/WIS/CHA may not seem like much for a racial modifier, but it's at the cost of a single feat rather than a Level Adjustment.

Alternatively:

Race: Star Elf (Unapproachable East) or Spellscale (Races of the Dragon). Each gets a +2 CHA, -2 CON racial modifier, and has no level adjustment, and doesn't require argument with your DM about the Dragonwrought feat.

At 12th level, you can purchase either a +4 (16,000gp) or +6 (36,000gp) Cloak of Charisma (check with your DM whether or not he's allowing you to spend more than 1/3rd of your total wealth on a single item).

You can also purchase a few Candles of Invocation (Lawful Evil-aligned) [DMG] to summon Efreetis and use their Wishes to grant you a +1 to +5 inherent bonus to Charisma long before you could purchase equivalent tomes. This is cheese, though.

You could also pick spells that require no save, such as Enervation, Ray of Enfeeblement - such Save-or-Suck/Die-type spells like that.

I can't offer any help on BoVD spells, though, as I never get to play with that book.

Well kolbolds can be optimize pretty well. For example at lvl 1 if you use a 32 point buy system put 18 into cha since your a venerable kolbold it jumps to 21 which leads to: 2 1st bounus spells and 1 extra 2nd-5th spells. plus if you raise cha for your 4th, 8th, and 12th thats 24 which leads to 2 1st-3rd lvl bonus spells and 1 4th-7th spells. Also your spells are harder to resist by a seven.

A dwarf wizard I had, had the spell Celestial Aspect (Book of Exalted Deeds page 93) of which he used the aspects Eyes of the Firre (2d6 fire damage per round for 1 minute per level and Wings of the Astral Deva (wings) occasionally. You only have to take a little strength damage (which heals naturally) and the spell gives you several options.
I had plans for Call Faithful Servants (page 93) (duplicated with Limited Wish), Cry of Ysgard (page 95) (we had a cleric in our party) and Valiant Steed (page 110) (duplicated with Limited Wish), but those three might not be wise for a sorcerer with limited spells known.

Good luck with your character.

P.S. Try to avoid losing caster levels.
This thread might help getting the most out of your charisma.
Since you lack a cleric, this thread could help.
What classes do your other party members have?

Ah gestalt. Suddenly Swiftblade makes a lot more sense.

Celestial Aspect is a level 3 Sanctified spell
Call Faithful Servants is a level 5 sor/wiz spell
Valiant Steed is a level 6 Sanctified spell
Cry of Ysgard is a level 7 Sanctified spell

Someone compiled a few lists for his/her campaign including for example spell levels and where to find it.
Not just spell lists, also equipment, feat and special material lists.
http://home.earthlink.net/~devinc/therra3rules.htm
He/She made a few changes for the campaign, but generally they're unchanged and quite helpful.

Sanctified? You would need Arcane Preparation to cast them.

Look at Treantmonk's guide to * Spells for ideas.

Oops. You're right.
Sorry Blightersbane, I overlooked that Sanctified spells need to be prepared instead of cast spontaneously.

Which frankly makes no sense. Why? They aren't even that much better, and Clerics get to cast them Spontaneously, so why can't a Sorcerer/Favored Soul/Spirit Shaman learn them?

I felt the same way over the sanctified spells, the cost just doesnt equal the reward, or is that backwards? And here IMO is the main problem. If your a single classed arcane caster your str is going to be in the toilet, and you wont have that much to sacrifice. Your str isnt all that important to you as a spellslinger but its probably your least.

If your a GISH, a combo of martial and arcane, then your str is too valuable for sacrifice as you are dependant upon it for melee.

Now if your a caster with a 18 str great! Have at it, for the rest of us this seems to be impractical.

Maybe theres some spells in the sanct list I need to read up on but it would seem for what you get again it aint worth it.
