| #1jaqkantasAug 06, 2008 16:35:24 | I am playing 3.5, and currently looking for good multiclass 20th level characters. My favorites so far: 2 rogue/ 4 assassin/ 14 ranger (BaB = 1 + 3 + 14 = 18) I call this one "The Dark Ranger" This one works best as an assassin that can hold his or her own in close combat. It is my personal favorite, and is the character that I play as in our campaign. The rogue grants the sneak attack, trapfinding, and evasion, while the assassin grants the death attack, sneak attack, poison use, spells, and saves against poison, while the ranger provides the combat style bonus feats (two-weapon fighting), the favored enemy, and a good BaB, along with good skill points. Also, all of these classes have "Move Silently" and "Hide" on their class skills. 4 rogue/ 4 bard/ 12 ranger (BaB = 3 + 3 + 12 = 18) I call this one "The Bounty Hunter" This one works best as a bounty hunter that specializes in a certain race (the favored enemy, usually human or elf). The rogue part helps for breaking and entering, the bard part helps you find your target by getting information out of people, and the ranger is good for the BaB. Also, all of these classes have "Move Silently" and "Hide" on their class skills. 8 fighter/ 5 rogue/ 6 ranger/ 1 barbarian (BaB = 8 + 3 + 6 + 1) I call this one "Savage" This is good for a strong, stealthy fighter capable of flying into a rage. The fighter is good for the BaB and bonus feats, the rogue is good for the Skill Points and sneak attack, the ranger is good for the combat style, favored enemy, and BaB, and the barbarian is good for flying into a rage. 5 sorcerer/ 5 cleric/ 10 Mystic Theurge (BaB = 2 + 3 + 5 = 10) I just call this one the "Mystic Theurge". It sounds good enough already. This is good, because you can cast 7th-level sorcerer spells, and 8th-level cleric spells. While being a wizard/cleric/mt would bring you 8th-level arcane spells, you would have to spend TWO hours each morning preparing spells, and you wouldn't be able to cast as many spells per day. What are some other favorites? |

| #3heaxAug 06, 2008 17:02:55 | A few questions... are you playing Core only? Or are you just not aware of many other non-core classes? A couple of my favourite base-class only multiclass characters; Fighter 1/Ninja 3/Swordsage 2/Warblade 14 Notes: Hit and Run tactics alternate class feature for fighter. Make it Human to avoid multiclass penalties. Now, you can get Dex to damage twice plus 2d6 sudden strike damage when you Ghost Step. Lots of cool maneuvers to make opponents flat footed too. It's actually a really MAD build, but I still enjoy playing it. Dwarven Hexblade 3/Ranger 5/Paladin of Tyranny 2/Duskblade 10 Not the greatest combination, I admit, and multiclass experience penalties really mess you up, but in games where there are no multiclass penalties (of which I play in a lot), this character is, in my experience, not bad against un-optimized mages. Take the Magehunter variant for Ranger and specialize in Dimension Hop to get closer to mages. Dwarves get a +2 racial bonus to saves versus spells, Hexblades get Cha to saves versus spells, and the Paladin of Tyranny gets Cha to saves for everything. Make it a Gold dwarf to replace the Cha penalty with a Dex penalty. However, multiclassing with base classes only is nigh unheard of. Do a little research on Prestige Classes. |
| #4jaqkantasAug 06, 2008 17:08:03 | I'm open to all classes, Core and Non-Core, and Prestige classes are O.K. with me (I used 4 levels of Assassin in the first one). Also: Race: Dwarf Paladin (Moradin) 10/ Dwarven Defender 10 I like that one, too. You can replace the Paladin with Fighter if you wish. |
| #5heaxAug 06, 2008 17:15:34 | I've never been partial to the Dwarven Defender. Meager DR and a special ability that sucks. Sure, it gives lots of bonuses- but you can only move at 5' per round. And by the time you get there, monsters just ignore you and eat the mages or, if you are in a hallway, tumble/fly/DD past you and eat the mages. Not very pleasant. I have to admit- many of my favourite builds are straight class 20s... Artificer 20, Dragonfire Adept 20, Incarnate 20, Druid 20.... However, a few more multiclass characters- For a good Arcanist that multiclasses: Spellthief 1/Beguiler 1/Wizard 3/Ultimate Magus 10/Unseen Seer 4/Archmage 1 Make him an Illumian. So many slots you won't know what to do! And the Metamagic... eugh... If you can use the Spellpoint variant from Unearthed Arcana all the better. Or for a Theurge that works at all: Illumian Druid 1/Wizard 2/Mystic Theurge 10/Arcane Hierphant 7 I like that one a lot too... |

Beguiler1/duskblade4/ur-priest10/abjurantchampion5 16 BAB, 9th level divine spells, steal SLA, gets a huge boost for ur-priest's CL at level 20 thanks to AC's martial arcanist setting the beguiler and duskblade CL = BAB |
