| #1printzgMar 26, 2009 6:22:15 | I've thought of a concept that I like, but need some input. The setting will actually be Birthright, so that means little to none magic and lots of big battles involving planning and strategy. I will apparently be some sort of noble or aristocrat, at least a person of influence. This setting is ment to be played out more on actual good roleplaying than on combat acheivements. I thought therefore of being a sort of manipulative polititian (you know how they are...) that is a specialist in poison use, just like they did back in the time of the old world. Figured a rogue would be good for this, but what feats and combination of (prestige) classes would be a good match? Thought of implementing a few levels of wizard, but will have to operate unseen with this magic (no combat magic, more so enchantment and divination) not to be outted as a witch and burned or worse. What good spells and feats would you suggest, and/or classes? Core books only. |

| #3printzgMar 26, 2009 6:38:45 | How would you go about it if you could use any book? |
| #4pithicaMar 26, 2009 9:05:01 | Any books... Spellthief 1/Martial (Conjurer or Transmuter) 1/Human Paragon 3/Unseen Seer 2/Master Specialist 2/Incantatrix 4/Unseen Seer +3/Archmage 2/Abjurant Champion 2 Use arcane disciple, Godsblood spelltheft, a bloodline feat, or some other feat that grants you access to delay poison as your way to avoid poisoning yourself. The above can cast in light armor, can persist 3+Int buffs/day, has a permanent (and free) nondetection up, has 18th(19) caster level (9th level spells), and 10d6 sneak attack, and the spells to shapechange or disguise as you wish. You lose access to Enchant, Evocation, and Necromancy, but persisted Superiour invis coupled with free nondetection is well worth almost any cost as a 'spy' type character. You can change Conj or Transmuter for straight wizard, and only lose Evocation, but it's going to cost you a feat, since you'll still need Skill Focus:Spellcraft for archmage and you'll no longer qualify for MS without being a specialist. You could change to a specialist diviner and only lose Enchant/Evo, but then you're wasting a feat on Spell Focus Divination. Core books only... I'd probably go... Rogue 2/(Conjurer or Transmuter) 5/Assassin 1/Arcane Trickster 10/Archmage 2 But that's going to be VERY rough on skills without Able Learner, since all the ones you need for both Arcane Trickster and Assassin are cross class for Wizards. It'll probably work very well in a low-powered campaign, but it isn't nearly as optimal as the above. |

| #6phaedrusxyMar 27, 2009 2:09:34 | Any book: dip Psion or use Psychic Rogue for Psionic Minor Creation. Free poison by the bucketfull. Core only in a low magic item world... you pretty much have to play a spellcaster not to be a useless gimp. I'd actually suggest a cleric with the Trickery domain. You get fantastic self buffs that aren't flashy, and Trickery adds decent skills and good spells. You also get good divination abilities, which are absolutely invaluable in this kind of campaign... so much so that you can expect the DM to nerf them, I'd guess. :P |
