I just got back from a rather difficult session where two of my characters were slain (good thing I brought extras) and I am going to have to re-roll. In the spoiler below are the details on how I died, after which I will provide the rules for which I am to re-roll.

How my Half-Dragon Psion Egoist died:
This one is not as fun as the one below, but was rather interesting. I was helping a teammate sneak into a large encampment of orcs (in a large ravine) to rescue a celestial that he saw in his dreams. To do this, the wizard i was with threw fireballs and flaming spheres to create some havoc. As they were climbing the ravine I mind blasted a few of them down to fall and hold up traffic. When they packed up tightly to come and destroy me, I used my breath weapon and ran away. As they were chasing, I tried to slow them down with another mind blast (now im at 3 pp). I eventually get away by climbing some mountains and pretty much lose them. I then tried to meet back up with a large army (sent to fight the orcs) but was chased by several worgs that eventually killed me and ate my corpse.
How my Peaceful Bard died:
This one is pretty amusing, but kind of frustrating because I didn't get to actually play this character in combat. I was also trying to go for Emissary of Barachiel when I hit level 6. I took vow of poverty, peace, and nonviolence. I started in a small town with roughly 3000 refugees from various villages that the orcs had destroyed (living in tents). I gathered about 1400 up and headed to the nearest city (ended up being Silverymoon). From here I worked to set up a church for Barachiel which i got 100 or so peasants to help build. Once I got the church built, another PC(lawful evil cleric) decided to plant explosives underneath the church (which happened to have a cave under it) and they blew it, me, and another PC, sky high.

1/2 Dragon Wizard 4 = CR 6
if that is the case .... i would do something like this:
1/2 Dragon Gray Elf Psion 4 or Wizard 4
both will work great but you need to pick different powers or Spells
if you would like either one .... i can work up the build... let me know
Tifrahl: No, we cant use any other 3.5 content. We have thought about making the change, but we have enforced 3.0 pretty heavily.
Carnivore: Im not sure where to find grey elf, but why half dragon? I know theyre pretty awesome, but they give alot of strength for a wizard (unless the idea is to make a gish). Thats actually what I was trying to do with my half dragon psion up above. I was trying to do claws of the vampire and biofeedback to be a sort of lifestealing tank thing. As far as what I would choose as a wizard or psion for spells, I would pick enchantment (i like the idea of controlling people's actions) but I am not opposed to anything that would work better for a particular build.
Waazraath: I like the half fey template, I could use that in conjuction with a normally non-casting class to be a little proficient in melee and then maybe prestige for more spells (idea). Is the players guide to faerun still 3.0? I thought that any book made after 2003 was considered 3.5 *shrugs* Wish we could just go to 3.5 dangit.... I like the magic in the blood feat (awesome). The lesser aasimar, I had trouble finding. I saw other "lesser races" but failed to find the aasimar.
To all: Thanks for posting, I like the ideas. And sorry for the narrow focus, Im gonna keep trying to break them out of 3.0 =)
Fiend folio is 3.0 though, if you don't use the errata you should be able to use it. The errata gives damage reduction 5/cold iron, but if you play without those rules... does that mean that it has a d6 and 6 skillpoints per level, regardless class? That would be sweet!With fly-by attack, half-fey's can be quite ok in melee for hit & run tactics. But without arcane channelling or manouvers from Tome of Battle, I guess it's not optimal. Maybe with smite evil from paladin & some levels in sorcerer, working towards eldritch knight. Add in some touch attacks... not the best (or as good as straight sorcerer), but ok I guess. Ow, and if you can use BoED and UA: try to aim for the saint template and using the LA-buy off rules!
My guess is that they wont allow me to use a saint template and half fey though... Its kind of like a +2 LA and then you're done kind of thing.
thus when combined with 1/2 Dragon(+8 Str, +2 Con, +2 Int, +2 Cha) you get this:

with this type of Build.... personally i would try Psion again.... but if you want a Gish Type... Wizard is better since that is thier Favored Class

Yes, I meant a +2 LA. For some reason, we use LA and CR interchangeably.
Wait, you mean if a template says +2 CR, your DM will let you have it for free? If that's the case, go for monster of legend (MMII).
Maat_Mons: Actually, funny you bring that up. I brought the idea up in conversation and was immediately told to steer clear by the DM. So I guess hes not desiring dealing with a "roflgg of legend" That template is really awesome, and I would love to play it sometime. (pssst maybe when he isn't watching)
Im open to more ideas, but I am going to draw up a prototype of Carnivore's suggestion.
