| #1menanderMar 17, 2008 22:16:20 | This is another "help me make this better" thread. Let me set the scene for you; time has been altered and my cleric "N"(doesn't know her name cause of the 6 int) has been dropped in a world where no one knows who this Pelor guy is. Now note that Pelor does exist and has let my character know, though not directly, and i have been spreading the religion far and wide trying to make everything better. Here is what i humbly ask of this board 1) I need suggestions of how to improve myself even with this cursed vow of poverty, mainly ability scores 2) Suggestions on how to deal with enemies that I can't talk down or attack directly, due to vows of peace and nonviolence. 3) If they exist, any rules on organizing a church and all that mess, I'm just sick of seeing the "as a cleric you should talk to higher ranking members of your church for free advice and all the things you'll ever want!" I am the highest ranking member of my church! and i can't help anyone cause the church is a year old. So here is hoping i can get some assistance on this, any other ideas or just some chatter is appreciated. Name: "N" Class: Cleric 6, RSoP 4 Race: Human Alignment: NG Deity: Pelor Size: Medium Str: 12 Dex: 16 Con: 14 Int: 6 Wis: 30 Cha: 20 Hp: 65 AC: 42 DR: 5/Magic BAB: 7/2 Fort: 12 Ref: 7 Will: 22 Feats: Sacred Vow, Vow of Poverty, Vow of Peace, Vow of Nonviolence, Nymphs Kiss, Nimbus of Light, Extra Turning, Leadership, Intuitive Attack, Divine Metamagic, Wisdom of the Ages(homebrew feat, adds wis to class skills) Special Abilities: All the features of the vows, and the character is a Saint as per the template in the BoED. Money is not a problem so even if the idea is expensive let me know. |

I'd start with the basics - preaching to the masses and small demonstrations of Pelor's power (not much more than cantrips). It also depends on the world - how magic is viewed in the world, how prevalent it is, etc. |

Use domination spells on stuff that attacks you. Diplomacy is a Cha-based skill. You don't even have to be able to talk to do it :P . Just smile at people until they love you. As it is, it seems like a pretty strange challenge. Who makes a Character with Int 6? |

| #6menanderMar 18, 2008 4:02:37 | How is money not a problem when you've taken a Vow of Poverty? My DM has decided to be extremely generous and says Pelor is willing to help with most of the costs related to giving myself and the church a name. With Int 6, likely as not you don't even know that you want to restart your church. Unfortunately the DM is picking and building the cohorts in this campaign, but I do get to pick followers so I could still get some people smarter than me in there, wouldn't be hard to find one. As to why I have a 6 int, it's because we rolled for our stats instead of a point buy, and I didn't get a re-roll. |

Also, ouch.... |
| #8brainpiercingMar 18, 2008 5:19:20 | My DM has decided to be extremely generous and says Pelor is willing to help with most of the costs related to giving myself and the church a name. Your DM better be really good to make up for that kind of character building. If he IS that good, then I don't doubt you'll find a way to have fun. If he's not, find a new DM. |
