3.5 Fighter/Ranger (maybe Barb?)

Jun 08, 2013 12:23:21 My build idea if of a Half-Orc bounty hunter type character. I would like to focus on fighting with a 2h weapon and possibly falling back to a bow and arrow for ranged.

I was thinking of multiclassing fighter/ranger and taking archery style for ranger, and then just building a standard 2h fighter (Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave). However I am sure some of you have some better ideas that could be implemented.

The 3 classes I am considering are Fighter, Ranger, Barb, and any combination of the three.

Any ideas?

Barbarian 2 (with the level 1 Lion Spirit Totem & level 2 Wolf Totem ACFs) gives you Pounce and Improved Trip. Fighter gives you the feats to get it done.

Jun 08, 2013 12:47:40 Some interesting PrCs to look into are Bloodhound, Justicar of Weal and Woe, and Vigilante. None of them amazingly spectacular, but kinda fun in their own respect. Bloodhound in particular allows you to knock out foes without any decrease in your combat ability. I agree that Improved Trip (probably from Wolf Totem Barb) would be a great pickup as tripped foes can't run, and it is altogether a great boost to the combat potential of your whole team. Maybe get a Greatclub and get the Three Mountains Style combat feat to further disable foes, and if you can pick up a die of Sneak Attack from somewhere, Staggering Strike to pile on the debuffs.

Try piecing something together, and we'll critique it.

AFAIK, there really isn't one for 3.5. And even if there were, there probably aren't any that can handle alternate class features (ACF).

Another possibility to consider: instead of half-orc, maybe a goliath? Their Barbarian racial ACF lets them become Large (which increases reach).
