Hey Folks! Been a long time since I've been round these parts

I'll be entering into a 3.5 Iron Kingdoms campaign in about a month or so. I only play spell casters or psionics.

Any general tips specifically for the Iron Kingdoms? Any hidden gems from that setting that I should be sure to look into?

Cheers,
Necro

PS - Any way to get a hold of IK printed books without taking out a second mortgage?

IK sucks for optimization. No psionics there, even.

1) Carnivore old pal how ya been? Hope well. I thought you threw in your gaming towel?

2) I may just take you up on that offer for some general purpose advice. I'm in a 4E game right now and that will probably wrap up in about a month. So I'll be back around once I get the details/setup/character parameters. For now I was thinking Psion if allowed, Sorcerer if not.

3) Would it be worthwhile to build a new Optimization Library (3E) round these parts? Enough traffic and new guides etc.?

Peace,
Necro

Welcome back Necrosnoop! I am also unfamiliar with Iron Kingdoms. I have seen the books a couple of times online (never physically), and I agree, they are expensive. I can not recall a time I have seen them under $40 lol.

Setting has no psionics. Ask DM, and while you are at it ask him if you can use artificer instead of arcane mechanic. I played the mechanic and found it less satisfying than an artificer would have been. Also ask about alchemical savant because it allows you to do some crazy potion combinations that get around the setting's btb strict healing limits.

Only setting specific prc for you is warcaster. They are clr/wzd power armor casters that control other constructs to boot. Conj, Div, healing, and shadow magics are all limited. No new races for casters. Magic items are heavy and require batteries. Lots of expansion on the alchemicals.

*twitch* As much as I love the Eberron setting, the Artificer is cracked out as written in the core setting book. The arcane mechanic, imho, is a lot less broken and less likely to get abused by power gamers.

I'm actually getting ready to run an Iron Kingdoms/Ravenloft crossover game for my wife and some friends from the Camarilla Fan Club, starting the PCs at 4th level, running them through a preliminary adventure or two, and then sending them on an Expedition to Castle Ravenloft, using the "Race For the Tome" Eberron adventure seed listed in the book. Barovia will be a tiny disputed realm on the border of Cygnar and Khador.

Anyone got a good Half-Ogre warrior-type build? Core books only.

Thanks

No, I just thought that any Core Book Only Half-Ogre build would be easy to adapt over to an Ogrun since they are pretty similar.

Ogrun
(Iron Kingdoms)
Humanoid
+4 Str
–2 Int
–2 Wis
Barbarian • Large Size
• 40’ Movement
• +1d8 Hit Points @ 1st Level
• Level Adjustment +1 (DM is waving the LA)
• +2 Natural Armor bonus to AC
• Ogrun Warcleaver Proficiency (Large Polearm, that has reach and can strike adjacent opponents)

Peace,
Necro

PS - Iron Kingdoms has a Maul that does 3d4 damage at medium size, what would the damage be for this weapon at large size?

Thanks
