I'm making an unarmed combat focused character and it's taking some strange turns. At first I wanted a barbarian or fighter with Imp. Unarmed and Imp. Grapple, but now I've made a Monk and will go Cleric from second level on. Race is human.

Currently at first level (Monk) with Imp. Unarmed, Imp. Grapple, Power Attack, and Flying Kick. Stats are 16 STR, 15 DEX, 14 CON, 12 INT, 14 WIS, 14 CHA.

At second level, I want to go Cleric with Strength Domain and possibly Time Domain (Spell Compendium). Also going to get Spontaneous Domain (Strength) for more Enlarge Person casting (PH2).

The focus on unarmed and strength stuff is purely flavor/story based, so arguing that it's stupid and inefficient won't really serve any purpose (I already know). At this point, just wanting to know if there are any things I can do to make the character better or if there is a better domain than Time for my second slot. As a note, this game won't get very high in level (I think highest we've ever made it is 5th level), so don't think too far ahead.

Thanks for any insight.

Actually, the concept you have is a pretty good one, provided you go into the Sacred Fist prestige class from Complete Divine. It advances your divine magic and your Monk abilities simultaneously.

As for the domain choice, Time and Strength are a decent choices. However, the Knowledge, Magic, Spell, and Celerity domains are also good choices. It is really a matter of personal opinion and the flavor of the character.
