DOES LEVELS OF TRIADIC KNIGHT AND PALADIN STACK TO DETERMINE TOTAL LEVEL FOR SMITE AND OTHERS ABILITIES DEPENDING ON PALADIN LEVEL? I am: AASIMAR FEMALE cleric 1 Paladin 8 Triadic Knight 2, total level 11. Charisma 22 (+6 bonus), so lay on hands = 6X(8+2)=60 hp. More: Smite evil: I have Extra smiting feat (TAKEN 2 TIMES), so now I can smite evil 6/day; I ADD MY LEVEL TO DAMAGE, THAT IS 10 (LEVEL OF CLERIC DOES NOT COUNT). I have: Strenght 16 (bonus +3), the Feat Initiate of Tyr (+1 damage with longsword), the Feat improved Smiting (+1d6 damage to evil, in my case), THE fEAT wEAPON fOCUS, MY WEAPON IS a Holy long sword +2 (+2d6 of damage to evil), normal damage is 1d8+7 (+3 strenght, +2 magic, +1 Tyr, +1 ...I don't remember !!!!, but I'm sure is +7, HELP!!!!), so when I SMITE EVIL I do: 1d8+3d6+17.....is it correct?
Thanks for your answer...I will play this evening after a year of stop!!!!

So far as I can tell, Triadic Knight advances your Aura of Good and Special Mount feature, and, at all levels but 1st and 7th, spellcasting (provided you assign spellcasting to the Paladin, and not the Cleric level).

Smite is tricky, since you only gain that ability at 5th level of Triadic Knight, but the example the book gives under the description of the Smite Evil takes a 5th-level paladin/4th-level Triadic Knight (who has thus not obtained the feature via Triadic Knight yet), and has it stack for +9 damage. So yes, it seems to stack: by my reckoning, your calculation seems correct. Mind you, I'm not what you'd call a rules-laywer/expert.

Other paladin class features based on level (lay on hands and turn undead) do not stack.

RANDOM YELLING

...Ahem.

My reading concurs with Syltorian.

The reasoning for why Smite damage stacks is because the triadic knight gives you two things: It gives you a smite 1/day, but it also says "If you already have this ability from another class, your Triadic knight class levels stack with that class's levels for the purpose of determining the extra damage dealt." Presumably whoever wrote that meant for this stacking to come online as part of the class rather than get wedged in with the smite ability itself (in the same sort of manner that having a level of Ranger - but not enough levels to cast spells - still enables you to use scrolls and wands).

Also, I'm not entirely sure why you went with Paladin 8; the class itself gets bad after level 2 and really bad after level 5. It took some pretty serious substitution work for us to make a competitive paladin 20. Furthermore, the biggest draw to the triadic knight on first reading is Threefold Smite, and if that looks appealing, open up your Player's Handbook 2 and look at the Charging Smite alternative feature to the paladin, which gives you the exact same ability for one Smite attempt, triggered any time you charge with that smite.
