Startout point: 16,16,16,13,13,10 ( rolled ) and 12 levels Human Focused Specialist Transmuter 7 / Red Wizard 5 Prohibited schools: Evocation, Enchantment, Necromancy, illusion( selected in 8th level) BaB: +5 Initiative: +9 ( +3 dex, +4 I.init, +2 Belt of battle Str: 10 Dex: 20 ( 16 + Gloves of dex +4 ) Con: 16 Int: 25 ( 19 + Headband of Int +6 Wis: 13 Cha: +1 Saves Fort: 9 ( 3 +3 +3 ) Ref: 11 ( 3+5+3 ) Will: 13 ( 9+1+3 ) Feats 1st: Tatoo Focus, spell focus transmutation ( human ) 2nd: 3rd: Improved Initiative 4th: 5th: No bonus feat , Spell versatility alternative c. feature ( ua 59-64 ) 6th: Create Wondrous 7th: 8th: 9th: Spell penetration 10th: 11th: 12th: Create Rings, Sudden maximize ( bonus red wizard ) Magical Items -This is more than standard spending money, but we have a house rule that if u have the item creation feats you get half price Ring of freedom of movement Headband of Int +6 Ring of spell Battle Amulet of tears Boots of big stepping Mantle of second chances Third eye penetrate Belt of battle Gloves of Dex +4 Vest of resistance +3 Im not 100% sure of feat selection, or magic items Spell selected: 1st: Enlarge Person Nerveskitter Silent Image Ray of Clumsiness 2nd: Invisibility Mirror Image Rope Trick Quick Potion 3rd: Fly Haste Slow Shrink Item 4th: Greater Mirror Image Celerity Heart of Earth Polymorph 5th: Mass fly Flesh to Ice Heart of Fire Teleport 6th: Flesh to Stone Freezing Fog Disintegrate Gemjump Howling Chain ( Evocation normally, but as class feature selected as Transmutation ) Couple of things Im not sure of: Does a Focused specialist get more spells to add to book per level ? When someone falls prone, does that yield AoO ? Any other optimization very appreciated.
#2 masterjoda999 May 26, 2009 0:23:40	Personally, I wouldn't go focused specialist in any build that uses prestige classes that add to your prohibited schools, but that's just since I find 4+ banned schools a little too chafing. Also, in answer to your first thing you aren't sure of, no, a Focused Specialist doesn't get more free spells in their spellbook, only more spell slots.
#3 CantripN May 26, 2009 2:49:46	Also, Spell Versatility gives you a spell you can actually cast at the time. So up to 3rd, unless you take some levels of Master Specialist to delay it or got some houserule. Besides, is Howling Chain the best you can do? Might as well go with Contingency, if you can. Either that, or go for Stored Lightning Bolt (Secrets of Sarlona) - it's the most RAW damage possible in one direct spell, ever, anywhere. In any case, BUY MORE SPELLS!
#4 xkullx May 26, 2009 8:35:43	On itself howling chain is pretty good, tripping targets withing 15 feet and hitting them if they are tripped, then any creature struck by the chain must make a will save or become Shaken. Combine it with Freezing fog ( no save, no sr ), Creatures within the fog cant take more than a 5ft step, each round a creature within the fog must make a ref save or fall, and as a small bonus it deals 1d6 per round. Set the chain so it reaches only 5 foot inside the fog and stand back :D i liked the combination, but I will concider another spell to add as a transmutation spell.
