| #1question2Jan 10, 2011 1:50:56 | Any suggestions? I read the scout handbook thread but nobody seems to be replying to it anymore so i figured i would start a new one. At this point im a level 3 human scout with Str 14 Dex 16 Int 14 Con 14 Wis 10 Cha 8. Feats i took were Pointblank shot, precise shot and dodge. I want to stick with scout, so any suggestion for future feats? I was thinking mobility for 4th level as the campaign is taking place in a cramped city and i found myself constantly threatened. I figure, with tumble i can just move backwards 10 ft to get the skirmish bonus, but if i fail the check i can still get a +4 AC bonus. |

I would recomend multi shot and then imp multi shot (or is it greater multi shot). I would also reccomend 4 or more levels of ranger and the feat that combines scout and ranger together, I think it is called swift hunter. You still get the scout goodies but with a better attack bonus and favored enemies. It can be vicious. This feat will also let you use skirmish againt target that are immune to critical hits as long as they are your favored enemy. |

| #4question2Jan 10, 2011 4:10:37 | Unles you can retrain feats you would be better buying items to boost your tumble check than using a feat. MOney is easier to get than feats. But i need mobility for shot on the run. |
| #5The_Crimson_DawnJan 10, 2011 14:31:08 | Well sombody else chime in if I am wrong but shot on the run is not that good in my opinion. |
| #6danduJan 10, 2011 18:20:40 | I'd take Greater Manyshot first. And a bunch of other feats. |
| #7The_Crimson_DawnJan 10, 2011 18:39:15 | Especially since shot on the run does not work with the many shot line. |
| #8KruskJan 10, 2011 18:41:07 | Well sombody else chime in if I am wrong but shot on the run is not that good in my opinion. Its not that good, but for a scout it can be ok. Typically you don't want to be moving with a precison based damager, thanks to full attack (hitting for all that damage lots of times). Scout has to move to get precision based damage. So being able to move and attack and move is half decent. A better idea would probably to go melee scout. Use two weapon fighting, and lion barbarian stuff. If you are set on a ranged scout, I have found the two handed dagger throwers work better. |
| #9The_Crimson_DawnJan 10, 2011 18:52:38 | Well that is why I like greater multi shot. Shoot and run. I am not sure its worth a precious feat slot. |
| #10question2Jan 11, 2011 2:36:45 | I'd take Greater Manyshot first. And a bunch of other feats. Uhh but i am level 3. |
| #11KruskJan 11, 2011 13:51:15 | I'd take Greater Manyshot first. And a bunch of other feats. Eventually. It doesn't hurt to plan ahead. Especially if your DM ever tries to have you guys level mid session. |
| #12question2Jan 11, 2011 14:08:20 | I'd take Greater Manyshot first. And a bunch of other feats. So what should i be taking in the meantime, assuming i can get the DM to let me change feats? |
| #13danduJan 11, 2011 14:16:13 | Pointblank Shot and Precise Shot were good. See if you can't get Dodge replaced by Expeditious Dodge. That should about fill your feat slots as a level 3 human. |
| #14The_Crimson_DawnJan 11, 2011 15:35:24 | I'd take Greater Manyshot first. And a bunch of other feats. Especially if your DM does not allow retraining. If your DM allowed you to change 1 feat every other level or so you could affoard to take mobility now and trade it for something useful later like greater manyshot when it becomes useless (when your tumble is so high hat even with penalties you will not fail.) |
| #15question2Jan 12, 2011 5:11:17 | Pointblank Shot and Precise Shot were good. See if you can't get Dodge replaced by Expeditious Dodge. That should about fill your feat slots as a level 3 human. But i cant move 40 ft and be within 30 ft range to do skirmish damage. |
| #16uhm_hoiJan 12, 2011 8:03:42 | You can with shot on run... you can get the mobility prereq from an item. I already pointed this out in another archer topic, but a scout with a bow is dangerous. A friend of mine did it ones. When you're carrying a bow within 30ft of your enemies you've just painted a huge bullseye on you and if the dm knows what he's doing you'll find your quiver constantly smashed or disarmed, or you'll get your bow smashed. Some ways around this is the force enhancement, so you dont need the arrows. A survival pouch, you can pull a back up bow + quiver out of this thing. Get the wizard to cast fly or greater invisibility or both on you. Make sure you get that shot on run to get to cover and make sure things cant charge you after you shot something in the face. You've stated you wanted to keep it a scout but it might also be wise to look into unseen seer (from complete mage) to get fly, invisibility, greater invisibility etc. Also when a ray spell deals damage you can aply skirmish damage on it, so a scout3/wizard3/unseen seerX with scorching ray can do quite some skirmish damage with a better chance to hit, defensive and utility spells, your not useless without a bow and everything a scout can do out of combat, an unseen seer can do better (hide vs hide+invisibility+silent image, track vs scrying and summoning a wolf to track for you, spot vs spot + divination spells, movement skills vs movement skills + dimonsion step/door/fly/teleport etc) |
| #17The_Crimson_DawnJan 12, 2011 15:15:40 | Pointblank Shot and Precise Shot were good. See if you can't get Dodge replaced by Expeditious Dodge. That should about fill your feat slots as a level 3 human. You do not have to move in a straight line. Your extra speed is good for dealing with difficult terrain, tumbling and making movement side to side and front to back. Personally shot on the run is not very good because you only get one shot with skirmish damage which is good now but is no longer good once you are able to pick up multi shot and it only gets worse from there. |
