Are there any druid spells that meet the requirement "ability to assume a new form magically" by 3rd level (max 2nd level spells) without taking the PHB2 wildshape variant? |

Are there any druid spells that meet the requirement "ability to assume a new form magically" by 3rd level (max 2nd level spells) without taking the PHB2 wildshape variant? Short of templating (Divine Minion comes to mind) or playing with specific races (shifters have the supernatural ability to change their form, for instance), I'm not sure this is possible. Particularly because that feat, and the related abilities, are among the most powerful things you can get in 3.5. Could you fill us in on what you're trying to do? There might be an alternative route. |

What I had in mind was a pretty straightforward and simple build that is ultimately druid 20 and uses Aberration Wild shape to gain access to aberration forms with awesome Su abilities all day long. I'm jumping into a game starting at level 9, so if i want my concept to work right out of the box my level 6 and 9 feat slots are taken up by Natural Spell and Aberration Wild Shape. Unless i really change my build, it looks like i either have to sacrifice Natural Spell untill 12th level (ouch) or find a 1st/2nd level druid spell that qualifies as "assuming a new form magically". In this campaign, we're allowed to use any non-Eberron books. I feel like "assume a new form magically" is a vague enough requirement that SOMETHING has to be out there that i'm not seeing. |

I've heard of this template via the legendary Pun-pun but i only just now looked it up. This might actually by alright if the DM will allow it. |

| #7Slagger_the_ChuulJul 28, 2012 20:53:21 | Doesn't the standard tree shape spell already cover the requirement? It's right there on the core list of 2nd-level druid spells. |
