| #1mpalmeruciMay 12, 2008 16:24:41 | Hello, This is a sister thread to a previous 4-armed warblade thread. I need feedback on my character- is he optimized? Can you improve on him? I have three specific questions: 1) How is my feat selection? 2) Any suggestions on how to design a home-brew approach to the Illithid Savant based on my description below? Is taking two hit dice of the monsterous class "half illithid" and not gaining any stats or abilities aside from the tentacles and brain slicer balanced? I can always pay for the tentacles and brain sucker as grafts, Lord of Madness I think, so I'm really taking 2 HD of nothing to get into the Illithid Savant class 3) Does Pain Master the feat allow you to get a +10 Str bonus when you only have 350 HP to lose? Lose 350 hp (get a +7), then get healed. Lose another 150hp, (get a +3). Does healing abolish your pain mastery? Details: Level 20 Campaign +2 Level Adjustment required (free) Any official book is acceptable (NO Dragon mag's) $150k to spend on items Current Build: Classes: Warblade 13/Bloodclaw 1/Fighter 2/Illithid Savant 2/ Abberration Race 2 *I wanted into the Illithid Savant badly, and previously I had tried to do that via grafts and a higher level spell that turns you into an illithid. I discussed it with my DM and he said, tenatively, that I can pay for two levels of aberration, as a monsterous class, to qualify. We are still working out the details. Race: Aberration? (not sure on this yet, or how it will be handled) Level Adjustment: Aberrant Limbs (+2) 4 Arms!!! Feats: Combat Reflexes, Ironheart Aura, Diehard (Warblade bonus feats) Toughness, Pain mastery (Savage species- +2 str/50hp damage I take!), Robilar's Gambit, Combat & Imp Combat Expertise (my AC is 16), Multiweapon/Imp/Greater MWF, Stormguard Warrior, Monkey Grip, Oversized TWF. Battle approach- 1) Per previous posters' suggestions, using Bloodclaw I get 4 Large Kukris, one in each hand, with full Str bonus, and Full power attack bonus on each smack. 2) [Stormguard Warrior] For each Attack of Opportunity I forgoe I get a cumulative +4Att/Dam for the round. With Robilar's and the Stance that grants attacks of opportunity if opponents attack anyone other than me, I should almost always gain 5 AoO per round (which will offset my Combat Expertise). 3) I will switch between the stance granting me Attacks of opportunity when opponents attack an ally I have attacked, and the stance granting +1att/dam Cumulative bonus for each crit (lasts until I do not get a crit for 10 consecutive rounds). In the mean time, as I soak damage, I'll continue to receive +2 Str for every 50hp damage I take, so as I am repeatedly healed I will continue to get stronger. Suggestions? Combat suggestions? Some information is missing, but I don't want to flood the post with every detail that might be applicable. So feel free to ask/criticize. No idea on what items to get... |
| #2mpalmeruciMay 13, 2008 10:37:49 | Did I mention it's an Illithid Savant? I thought people would be jumping all over this thread- I'm totally nuts over the class. Unless it's unreasonable to pursue? Overpowered? ![]() |

| #4mpalmeruciMay 13, 2008 14:47:59 | Thanks, My role in the party is tank- with the mage-like BAB of the Illithid Savant I would do horrible. Keep in mind- I don't want to become rediculously overpowered because then the other 3 players (Warlock, Bard w/ Cleric cohort, Souleater) won't have fun. If you can offer specific suggestions, like "Take 3 more levels of Illithid Savant and get X,Y,Z" then I'd be happy to try it out. As it stands I can gain a +17 to AC, AND a +20 to attack and damage each round without using any actions (Swift, etc). I can also make two full attacks in one round, I can pounce, I can give an ally two full round actions in a turn, I can remove status affects and ability affects as a swift action, and I can potentially cast heal (using the 9th level strike from one of the disciplines (this might require taking the martial study feat 3 times and martial stance feat once if I recall correctly)). Any specific suggestions? |
