| #1Backlash3906Mar 17, 2008 13:11:57 | Starting a campaign with a Dragonborn-Warforged Dragonfire Adept (lv3) and I've already gotten the DM's approval to employ my Adept's breath weapon (but not dragonborn one) in other shapes. So, rather than use a precious invocation slot (Dragonfire Adepts get even fewer than Warlocks) on Draconic Flight or Aquatic Adaption, I'm keeping a handy list of optimal humanoid races on hand. At a glance through Races of the Wild/Destiny, Oriental Adventures, and all five Monster Manuals, here's my quick selections. I miss anything vital, or are there other sources to reccomend? Swim Speed 30 - Sea kin (Races of Destiny) Land Speed 60 - Varag - Monster Manual Climb Speed 20 - Forestkith Goblin (Monster Manual III) Fly Speed 40 - Raptoran (Races of the Wild) [Note: This one is HD/level based, so by the time I have access to the invocation anyway, I'll be at the level where they can fly, but for no more rounds than my CON modifier without becoming fatigued. Gliding can be interspersed into the movement. Average maneuverability) Okay, forget that one. Missed part of the Change Shape rules at first glance. Still looking for a burrow speed. I've read the New Dragonfire Adept Handbook but I'm not really looking for any crazy combos right now, just a quick utilitarian list of humanoids for movement abilities. Here's the invocation text: Humanoid Shape: Lesser Invocation; 3rd Level You can assume any humanoid form, as the change shape special ability (MM306). You can remain in the form for up to 24 hours or until you take a standard action to assume a new form or return to your natural form. [INDENT]A creature with this special quality has the ability to assume the appearance of a specific creature or type of creature (usually a humanoid), but retains most of it's own physical qualities. A creature cannot change shape to a form more than one size category smaller or larger than its original form. Changing shape results in the following changes to the creature:
