| #1sofawallFeb 02, 2009 3:53:10 | Well, Lord Kiwi said in the old thread that he wasn't going to update it once 4e came out. Well, 4e is out, and the thread needs updating, so as my first main foray into the forum, I plan to bring it back, update it etc. As a bonus, it'll keep me coming back here to make sure no one posted something new! IN PROGRESS! Ok, after a bit of work, the first two stats are up. I'll try to get the others up sometime tomorrow. Anything marked with *?* means I need that info. *STRENGTH* RACES/TEMPLATES |
| #2tshernFeb 02, 2009 5:38:57 | I suggest you to copy the entirety of the previous thread. Makes it a lot easier for you and everyone who wants to contribute since then we already know what do we have for each stat. |
| #3sofawallFeb 02, 2009 5:51:40 | I intend to, however simply copy/pasting loses all the nice columns, so I need to neaten them all up as well. It'll be done sometime after I get home from school today. Within 24 hours for sure. EDIT: Oh, I read it wrong, the whole thread, eh? Alrighty, I'll make a massive sblock it seems. |
| #4PlzBreakMyCampaignFeb 02, 2009 6:43:27 | You need to add all of the original post and then the few bits after it was abandoned like: + Fey-craft Template DMG II p275 Damage, replaces Strength, light weapons only + Dragon 337 has a feat called spell graft which has some requirements (know arcana 8, Craft Wonderous items, and spontaneous arcane casting). It lets you give up a spell to graft it to a body part and use it 4 times a day. One of the examples was giving up Truestrike and getting the ability to add Int to your attack for 1 round per character level in addition to Dex + Another feat to add to the dexterity list, from dragon magazine: Dead Eye: add dexterity bonus to your damage with ranged attacks so long as they are within 30 ft. + Lvl 3 Tomb Warden lets you add your charisma moddifer to Attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws for 10 minutes a day. Libris Mortis pg. 58 |
| #5aniona_amakiirFeb 02, 2009 8:44:58 | I intend to, however simply copy/pasting loses all the nice columns, so I need to neaten them all up as well. It'll be done sometime after I get home from school today. Within 24 hours for sure. Just click the QUOTE bottom at the end of the post you wish to copy and then copy the neatly formatted text that pops up, saves you a whole lot of formatting. Oh and make sure to give credit to the old author ![]() |
| #6sofawallFeb 02, 2009 14:19:15 | Wow, that would have helped SO much... Thanks for the tip. And yes, of course I'll give LordKiwi credit. |
| #7tshernFeb 02, 2009 15:53:04 | Wow, that would have helped SO much... Thanks for the tip. It's a good thing you're doing this, the original one has been an amazing resource. |
| #8sofawallFeb 02, 2009 19:06:28 | Updated OP, please message me the votes, no need to clutter this up anymore than needed. |
| #9lenchFeb 04, 2009 7:24:13 | Fey-craft Template DMG II p275 Damage, replaces Strength, light weapons only Am I reading this wrong, all I find is that the weapon now has reduced its size damage die one level, ie 1d6-> 1d4. The weapon is also considered Light, and you get dex to HIT. I dont see any mention of dex to damage....Could anyone please confirm either way for me? while i'm posting here I can as well give my vote, I prefer the new way (sorry I didnt pm ) |
| #10ejothimsFeb 04, 2009 7:41:41 | The old method is better. Allows for quicker scan of all sources of a relevant stat to a relevant outcome. |
| #11BloodDragonFeb 04, 2009 9:11:06 | Finally: Mortal Hunter 5th level, Book of Vile Darknesss p65: Wisdom to saves vs spells Moon-Warded Ranger 2nd level Dragon 340,p55: Wisdom to AC as a monk. Thank you for this sofawall, the revival is very appreciated! Format: I would not say the old format was "Great" but is was functional because it allowed you to simply scan down the left hand side and pick up the stats you wanted. A new format wouldn't hurt but I don't suggest using the Sblocks. |
| #12true_shinkenFeb 04, 2009 11:59:11 | Feycraft weapons add Dex to hit, not to damage. |
| #13sofawallFeb 04, 2009 12:21:14 | Thnaks for feycraft catch! It's you guys that make this possible, as I lack both time and books to catch all these. Also, I'm gonna be experimenting with the format a bit. If you see something awful, tell me. Something you like, tell me. |
| #14EndarireFeb 04, 2009 18:50:09 | I like the new format. The old one was entirely devoid of bold and italics. I request you widen the columns so everything fits horizontally. If needed, use 2 lines. Italicize the source, like Complete Divine. |
| #15ejothimsFeb 04, 2009 19:28:12 | I still don't like Races/Classes/Etc being in different spoiler blocks. If I want to build something based on Str, I want to be able to see all my options for each at once, so I can more readily make sure I hit them all. I don't want to have to open and close nested spoilers back and forth to do it. ;) |
| #16sofawallFeb 04, 2009 20:20:27 | Alright, no at the moment sblocks are out, and it seems we want wider columns so they line up properly and italics and bolded items. I can't do that today, I have much homework, but I'll get on doing that. |
| #17EndarireFeb 04, 2009 21:47:59 | Also, leave a blank line or 2 between sections and bold the headings. Feats Melon snack. Races Anthropomorphic hammer. |
| #18idontknowFeb 05, 2009 14:04:20 | I have to say i like the old style a lot better. Only thing thats missing is italics and bold |
| #19idontknowFeb 19, 2009 5:18:48 | I think I noticed a mistake in the Intelligence column Under the entry of Montebank 1 it says "social skills" but it only adds int to bluff |
| #20selerikMar 14, 2009 13:04:54 | I like the information you added in, and think that should be present in Lordkiwi's as well. I also don't mind the spacing between categories. However, I really dislike have to click each individual tab to open them for the Show function. I could do without that. On a review, I want to suggest a change to your addition. Rather than listing the page and book numbers in the middle, maybe shift them to the far right and wrap long descriptions of effects. |
| #21selerikMar 14, 2009 14:06:19 | This is my variation on your format. I've only done Strength as an example, for now. If people like this system, I'm agreeable to tossing more of it out there. If Sofaking thinks he can handle it and wants to, I'm perfectly fine with letting him do the work ;) *STRENGTH* RACES/TEMPLATES |
| #22sofawallMar 14, 2009 21:28:05 | Hmm, interesting. Separate blocks, but not spoilers. What do you guys think? And as for not making them all one format, I kinda forgot about this thread. |
| #23surrealMar 14, 2009 23:36:31 | I would prefer that there not be embedded spoilers. |
| #24sofawallMar 15, 2009 0:21:47 | Alright, so we gonna use Selerik's format? I can do all that tomorrow morning, it won't take long. |
| #25selerikMar 15, 2009 10:12:03 | It may take a few days to get a meaningful level of response. I don't think that last person was responding to this question, just the original post. |
| #26surrealMar 15, 2009 12:18:47 | To clarify: I prefer Selerik's formatting. |
| #27BalthanonMar 15, 2009 13:01:38 | I agree-- it makes the list more readable without requiring the reader to actively open and close various sblocks. |
| #28true_shinkenMar 15, 2009 16:32:25 | I prefer Selerik's format |
| #29selerikMar 15, 2009 16:51:20 | I guess that is that then. If you need any help with the transition Sofaking, let me know. I'll be watching this thread. |
| #30selerikMar 24, 2009 9:05:34 | Okay, this has been quiet for a while. If there is nothing new within the week I'll be putting up the fixed version myself and maintaining it. |
| #31sofawallMar 24, 2009 14:51:50 | Dammit, sorry, I keep forgetting. I'll actually leave this tab open so I remember. |
| #32carnivoreMar 25, 2009 4:52:59 | very nice... excellent resource ... good job :D |
| #33dr_rocktopusMar 25, 2009 8:02:52 | More seriously, thanks for recompiling this. The first one was really really useful to me, and this one is shaping up to be fantastic as well. |
| #34sofawallMar 25, 2009 22:18:19 | Sorry guys, it'll be another day or two. I have choir practice tomorrow for a concert on Saturday so I can't miss that, and I accidentally closed the tap when I mean to click it so I could hit post, so I just lost all my work on it. It was almost done, too ![]() |
| #35BalthanonMar 25, 2009 22:22:55 | Sorry guys, it'll be another day or two. I have choir practice tomorrow for a concert on Saturday so I can't miss that, and I accidentally closed the tap when I mean to click it so I could hit post, so I just lost all my work on it. It was almost done, too Always write out large posts in notepad-- you never know what's going to happen to what you write when you hit the submit reply or other buttons. It seems like every time I forget to hit Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C before I post I end up losing my post. I think it's coded into the WotC boards. |
| #36sofawallMar 25, 2009 23:16:28 | Thanks for that, I'll remember. ![]() |
| #37qosheaMar 26, 2009 10:35:29 | Not sure if this qualifies since it is a stacker, not a replacement. The 10th level of Mythic Exemplar for Reikhardt gives the ability to add your CHA bonus to either Fort or Will saves (chosen when you reach level 10) of yourself and all allies within 60'. |
| #38sofawallMar 26, 2009 14:50:19 | Not sure if this qualifies since it is a stacker, not a replacement. Those are the best kinds! I'll update this over the weekend, hopefully. D&D Friday, choir Saturday, might be able to squeeze some time after church... Busy weekend :D |
| #39burnt_to_crispApr 03, 2009 2:51:28 | thank you for what you're doing, this thread is truly helpful. you've missed a spot, though: I'm not sure why it's not here, so there: Escalation Mage (Faiths of Eberron) gets CHA to HP once + Class Level (making it give 6d4+6+CHA HP over it's 6 levels). I think it's worth mentioning that the Geomancer prestige class allows multi-classed spellcasters to use the best qualities from any spellcasting class, i.e. a wizard/cleric could use Int or Wis as modifier. also, i prefer Selerik version, really. also, did anyone bother to inform LordKiwi? |
| #40sofawallApr 03, 2009 7:09:40 | Umm, I posted in the thread. Also, formatting is almost done, and saved in notepad this time, so I won't lose it again. |
| #41absynteApr 30, 2009 16:07:09 | Could you guys give me a hand? I'm stupid with rules and optimisation, but I play a Succubus in a very difficult table to survive to. She just finished her succubus levels. If you think you could and want to hel please visit http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?p=18466847#post18466847 Thanks for your patience and help edit to open a thread Thanks for the sugestin Dr Rocktopus |
| #42dr_rocktopusApr 30, 2009 16:13:09 | I mean in no fashion to be brusque, madam, but perhaps a thread of your own might suit best? I promise that we are generally affable fiends of a low to middling CR. Dangerous only in large numbers certainly |
| #43jopustopinApr 30, 2009 18:28:25 | Might makes right doesn't replace charisma, it just adds strength to your leadership score. It's in the Races of Faerun book (3.5) |
| #44sofawallApr 30, 2009 20:49:15 | Damn, I forgot to update this! I even reformatted and everything! Lemme go find it in notepad. |
| #45burnt_to_crispJul 03, 2009 9:56:17 | Damn, I forgot to update this! I even reformatted and everything! i take it you didn't find it in notepad.. can we please finally get an update on this? |
| #46dr_rocktopusAug 09, 2009 19:23:52 | Bump! |
| #47strenothOct 28, 2009 2:29:46 | the code blocks do not work for me at all. But none the less, a very useful resource, thank you. |
| #48pyro_azerOct 28, 2009 20:32:22 |
Yup. Don't you love the new forums? |
| #49GalaGalaxiaOct 30, 2009 14:25:25 | Swordsage Wis to AC does not stack with Monk or Ninja |
| #50auxitiusNov 01, 2009 14:39:09 | The Phantom template (+2 LA) from Monster Manual V gives Charisma modifier to Deflection Bonus. |
| #51zarzakAug 16, 2011 2:11:57 | thread is messed up now ... D: |
