| #5tr0llmanJul 07, 2011 23:49:23 | TL;DR. But in the last build, I noticed a Flaming, Shock weapon. Those enchantments really don't do much, I'm sure you can find better abilities. |
| #6Tempest_StormwindJul 08, 2011 0:48:38 | This might help with that last one. There's a lot in it that's sub-optimal. Let's just say it's actually rather easy to get double or triple that damage output on the berserker. That link managed to get it ten times higher, although it's designed as a stunt rather than a build. |
| #7aquantusJul 08, 2011 1:41:05 | TL;DR. But in the last build, I noticed a Flaming, Shock weapon. Those enchantments really don't do much, I'm sure you can find better abilities. Yeah But I used it in all builds to compare with the same abilities and same weapons, Indeed that damage can be doubled if you take the one enchantment that doubles the damage on a charge, meaning you would do 1188 x2 = 2376 damage Mind you this damage is without added str from Spells and other buff, at level 20 you can get way higher then a +7 str ( Which I used ) and this is a medium sized creature with a medium sized weapon ^^ |
| #8Tempest_StormwindJul 08, 2011 2:34:48 | Yeah But I used it in all builds to compare with the same abilities and same weapons, Indeed that damage can be doubled if you take the one enchantment that doubles the damage on a charge, meaning you would do 1188 x2 = 2376 damage No, no it doesn't. You don't double the extra damage from stuff like flaming, because it's extra damage dice. www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/combatStatisti...: Multiplying Damage What you want is either a higher flat enhancement bonus (the bonus to damage isn't dice, so it multiplies) or the Collision enhancement (which normally comes out behind things like Flaming since Flaming Shock is +2d6 (average +7), but since it's untyped (i.e. no resistance) and a flat number (i.e. multiplies) it's the perfect enhancement for attacks based on multipliers as opposed to multiple individual hits). Since you're a charger, you really, really want those multipliers. This was very apparent from the dawn of ubercharging, which probably started with the Lancer (the first build I know of to combine Leap Attack with assorted "double damage on a charge" options. Its original battle cry was, in fact, "IN YOUR FACE, FRENZIED BERSERKER!" for a reason.). Also pay special attention to its feats: Shock Trooper is an absolute godsend to any charger since it lets you power attack without losing your attack bonus. If you combine it with a way of charging multiple times (for instance, you knock the target back or you use Battle Jump to convert non-charge movement into a charge attack like the Lancer), you can get even more augments on Power Attack through Combat Brute. (Both feats are in Complete Warrior.) Unlike the UberERcharger, everything about the lancer was designed to be played straight or plugged into other builds. Since the Lancer, the basics of ubercharging have been distilled down to four "required" abilities: Power Attack, some method of multiplying Power Attack itself (Leap Attack is the simplest of these; Combat Brute and Supreme Power Attack are others), Shock Trooper, and damage multipliers. The best of those multipliers is Pounce, since it actually multiplies every other multiplier rather than merging with it (i.e. if you've got a single Double Damage On Charge ability, adding another only adds another multiple of the base damage, totalling Triple Damage On Charge. If you'd instead Pounced for four attacks, that would have been Eight Times Damage On Charge). |
