| #1ionMar 29, 2008 2:55:38 | Hey, I just though I might post my build here to see if anyone had any input on how to make it better. It's a gestalt game, and everyone else is a crazy optimizer, so I don't think this build is too far out there. Lets say all books allowed, if I need to clear something by the DM I probably can. I think it was 40 point buy for the stats. I decided to go Dragonfire Adept 6 // Arcane Swordsage 6. Human Dragonfire Adept 6 // Arcane Swordsage 6 HD 6d8+24 ( 72 max) Ini +9 (+2 dex +2 quick to act +5 Nerveskitter) Speed 30 ft. AC 25 (+2 dex +3 wis +2 na +4 Mage Armor +4 Shield) DR 2/magic Fort 9 (5+4con) Ref 7 (5+2dex) Will 8 (5+3wis) BAB/Grap +4 / +4 Breath Weapon: 3d6 fire, DC 17 (10+1/2class+con) cone 15 ft. or line 30 ft. Max Breath: 1d6 fire, DC 21, 45 ft cone. recharge 7 rds. (or DC 17,recharge 3 rds) if damaged: entangled(0.5*speed, -2 atk, -4 Dex, DC15+spell level to cast), lasts 1d4*1.5 rds, 1d6 dmg/rnd. on save: 1 rnd slow(move or standard, not both. -1AC/atk/Ref. 0.5*speed) on fail: 3 rnd slow(move or standard, not both. -1AC/atk/Ref. 0.5*speed) permanently blinded (-2AC, no Dex to AC, 0.5*speed, -4 search + str/dex based skills, all opponents gain 50% miss chance.) Str 10, Dex 14, Con 19, Int 10, Wis 16, Cha 12. Feats: Human-- Entangling Exhalation Flaw1-- Adaptive Style (Shaky -2 ranged atk rolls) Flaw2-- Power Surge (Murky Eyed reroll miss chance twice.) 1st-- Enlarge Breath 3rd-- Heighten Breath 6th-- Shape Breath Invocations: (1/2/0/0) Least -- Endure Exposure. Lesser -- Humanoid Form, Voidsense (blindsense 30ft.). Breath Effects: 2nd: Frost Breath (cold damage) 5th: Slow Breath (slows creatures for 2 rds (1 on save). Slow-->(move or standard, not both. -1AC/atk/Ref. 0.5*speed) Swordsage Stuff: Quick to act +2 Discipline Focus (Weapon Focus) Discipline Focus (Insightful Strike) Maneuvers Readied / Known (6/11) 1st (5) DC 14 -- Benign Transposition, Charm Person, Mage Armor, Nerveskitter, Shield. 2nd (3) DC 15 -- Detect Thoughts, Invisibility, Resist Energy. 3rd (3) DC 16 -- Blinding Breath (Dr.), Displacement, Lesser Telepathic Bond Stances: Perl of Black Doubt (+2AC every time a foe misses you.) or Assassin's stance (+2d6 sneak attack) 2 more.. I've been toying around with it all day, I'm just not completely happy with my selections. Any ideas for spell/maneuvers, stances, invocations or feats would be greatly appreciated. |
| #2voidboyMar 29, 2008 6:46:44 | Input on spells: Not bad, but you should note, that you won't have time buffing in combat. So i think that makes Displacement less useful. Blur should do it as it has longer duration and it is enough to stop sneak attacks. For good self-buffs consider the 'Karmic' type spells (Complete Mage), they are swift actions. I would do like this: 1: Benign Transposition, Grease or Ray of Enfeeblement, Mage Armor, Nerveskitter, Shield. 2: Blur, Stay the hand, Detect thoughts 3: Karmic backlash, Blinding breath, Dispel magic, Later: Dragonskin (fits thematically, privides NA and energy resistance) |
| #3ionMar 29, 2008 12:14:46 | Is there something I could be doing with my feats? I have a feeling in such a high powered game, the bad guys are going to be pretty tough, making Heighten Breath a keeper. What am I going to do for the 5ish rounds after I get my breath off? I have humanoid shape, I suppose I don 't lose much if I decide to become dragonborn! that's +2con and another breath weapon. |
| #4voidboyMar 29, 2008 14:04:25 | Dragonborn is good. I would be tempted to get the flying variant though. Use your spells between breaths. |
