| #1priereMar 01, 2009 19:28:54 | Hey, everyone. I need a bit of input here for a future character build I'm working on. I believe I more or less have the character designed but I'm in need of a contingency. Part of the current design hinges on my DM being generous with regards to the Kensai's Signature Weapon ability and allowing it to be applied to a pair of identical weapons (hand crossbows in this case). In addition to this I need some help deciphering the wording on the Double Hand Crossbow from the web enhancement for Kobolds. Am I correct in assuming that when using a full-attack you can fire each crossbow twice as part of your action? So if a character had enough BAB for three attacks they could make six attacks as a full action? If not, how is the weapon supposed to work? Anyway, here's the build as it is currently. |

I'm not familiar enough w/ the various archer PrCs, but you might look into these guys: Unapproachable East (there's like a Master of the Yuirwood and another class thats archery stuff), CWar (bunch of OK archer classes there). Instead of Weapon Focus, there's a feat in Drow of the Underdark that counts as both Weapon Focus and gives you the close ranged ability of the EWM for hand crossbows. That one's worth it. |

Dual Hand Crossbow is a works in the way "ask your DM" however you can read "the same way as rapid shot" so if you have quick load and 2 crossbows you can take two more attacks. (as long as you have EWP) 3. Recently i workout Rogue with crossbows but that was more rogue than fighter. 4. As always you can add Warbade with Dancing Mangoose you will have a little more attacks. Anything with Sneak Attack and full BAB could be fine. Order of the bow initiate (CWar) is ultimate archer PrC, but you have ask DM to add cross-. Perles Archer from Silver Marchers same problem as above, and its probably 3.0 You can add whirling frenzy barbarian for one more attack. Adding psionics could also help. 5. But... im afraid that the crossbow fighter idea is not so good, the archery is less feat intensive, and the most important you can move and multishot. With 2WF you can throw weapons, and with brutal throw (S insted of dex) you are as good in melee as from distance. |

| #6priereMar 02, 2009 12:21:37 | The main idea of the character is something of an artilery barrage. I'm trying to get as many attacks per round as possible (thus the question on the way that Double Hand Crossbows work). My DM already allows the use of two hand crossbows with the rapid reload feat to be able to make use of full-attacks which is why I went with the idea instead of persuing some strange esoteric piece of equipment to do it (it'll most likely be a low magic world anyway so the likelihood of getting exactly the equipment I want is slim to nill). So basically what I need help with is finding ways to get more attacks and add a little bit more oomph to those attacks. I had thought about adding some psionics and possibly using Erudite with the Spell-To-Power variant to add some buffing and keep my stat dependancies down. ToB would be a possibility as well for the multiple attack generating options. I'll have to take a look through there. And thanks for pointing out the Drow of the Underdark feats! Those freed up a good deal of space. Two feats to consolidate three feats and a special ability? Yes please. Thanks for the pointers and corrections so far, folks. |

Add in 4 levels of fighter, or 2 levels of fighter and 4 of warblade(probably the best). That will let you grab Weapon Spec, which then lets you pick up Ranged Weapon Mastery. Feat Rogue doesn't actually let you meet fighter level reqs for Weapon Spec, but Warblade is superior and will work. Warblade will net you Blood in the Water, some nice defensive manuevers, and a couple offensive ones. The hardest part is going to be adding damage to the bows. Since you have leadership, nab a Dragonfire Inspiration bard to back you up. |
