| #1quiet1miMar 01, 2009 14:33:42 | I was wondering if there existed a Healer's Handbook. (the actual class, not being a healer) I tried to search, but because of the name of the class it makes it difficult to find. |
| #2frostwolfMar 01, 2009 14:44:34 | try these ![]() |
| #3quiet1miMar 01, 2009 15:11:20 | I meant is there a guide for playing the class Healer and making it optimized. (note: the Class Healer not the role of being a healer) |
| #4jameswilliamogleMar 01, 2009 15:15:39 | I don't think anyone's actually written one; people 'round these parts consider it very weak, though. Your best bet is to combine it with the Combat Medic in Heroes of Battle. |
| #5quiet1miMar 02, 2009 17:48:41 | allow me to rephrase the question. I am building a super-healer NPC that cannot win fights for the PC (thus preventing the trap of a DMPC), I was wondering what feats he should take and what PRC he should multi-class into if he should. I also thought about making him a Saint (BOED) later in the Campaign. currently I took the following... *Augment Healing *Spontaneous Healer *Skill Focus (heal) (it is a bonus feat) *Touch of Healing (complete Champion) *Mitigate Suffering (complete Champion) Skill Trick: Healing Hands (Complete Scoundrel) |
| #6jameswilliamogleMar 02, 2009 18:05:32 | Perhaps you should put up the full build, as it looks like you already have a pretty clear idea about what you want to do. |
| #7quiet1miMar 02, 2009 18:13:16 | I would but I do not know how to set everything up in the correct format for a build... would a link to the character sheet be alright? |
| #8jameswilliamogleMar 02, 2009 18:24:48 | I would but I do not know how to set everything up in the correct format for a build... NO!!! j/k. sure. Usually, attributes, race+template, and a list of feats by level are enough, though. Just copy / paste the following, filling in details: [race] [class A {levels inserted}] / [class B {levels inserted}] 1 {insert feat} 3 {same, etc} 6 9 12 15 18 bonus feats: {type 'em in, and indicate what level} {any commentary} |
| #9quiet1miMar 02, 2009 23:17:01 | Is a Build really necessary as the character is just temporary and I just need to know if there are better feats for a Healer. |
| #10true_shinkenMar 02, 2009 23:25:00 | Is a Build really necessary as the character is just temporary and I just need to know if there are better feats for a Healer. You want fries with that? ^^ |
| #11akal-sarisMar 02, 2009 23:28:54 | Short answer: no, there's no Healer's handbook, though I will gladly make one if there is enough call for it. Long answer: Reach spell from CD would be good so he can heal from further away, as would be Empower Spell from a rod or DMM if he multiclasses cleric (or sacred exorcist) until he gets Heal. It would also be fun to try and optimize around the pet unicorn actually. |
| #12zenduMar 03, 2009 0:07:46 | Augment healing is obvious. Magic of the Land might be another good one...maybe imbued healing + gain domain? Healing Lorecall is a must for spells. |
| #13quiet1miMar 03, 2009 0:37:18 | Part of the reason I have been so fixated on optimizing the Healer is because my group freaked out when I showed them a "very low powered Uber charger Barbarian" Needless to say they Banned me from making characters... I intend to regain their trust by making characters that do not steal the lime light in combat yet excel at something in combat... If I picked a character with offensive capabilities, the temptation to kill everything and the standard DMPC stereotype will be too great for me... The solution was the Healer as it specifically was made with little (calm emotions) to no offensive capabilities... save against the undead. |
| #14cruMar 03, 2009 7:10:00 | ... little to no offensive capabilities... At least until lvl 17, when you can cast *drumroll* Gate. To answer your question - check to healer (role) handbooks presented above. And another suggestion for an interesting character that does kill everything singlehandedly but greatly contributes to the party would be a war weaver buffer. |
| #15sofawallMar 03, 2009 7:19:42 | At least until lvl 17, when you can cast *drumroll* Gate. fixed. |
