Oct 28, 2008 19:48:51 There's a PHB table that says armor for Large creatures costs and weights double compared to a Medium creature, but does a mithral chain shirt cost +2000 for a Large creature instead of +1000 for a Medium?

Do magic items automatically resize to fit the wielder?

There is an armor enhancement somewhere called "Sizing," which allows the armor in question to change size depending on the size of its wearer. Some DMs allow magic armor to change size without that enhancement, but such is a house rule.

They do within a size category, but not to different size categories.

I.E. Magical Armor fitted for a half-orc can be worn comfortably by a dwarf, an elf, or an obese human. In fact, unless your DM house rules it, even non-magical armor works this way.

This is more about DM's not having to keep track of pointless details when they're rolling up treasure than anything else.

Oct 29, 2008 11:57:32 most armors (of the same size category) are one-size-fits-all but stuff like full plate needs to be resized, which is quite cheap compared to buying a new one. check the descriptions of each armor in the SRD.

The FAQ has a slightly different answer. According to it, the masterwork portion of the cost does not double, so a large mithral chain shirt would cost:

(1100 - 150) x 2 + 150 = 2050 gp

It's a bit wonky, I agree.
