Designed for an upcoming mini-adventure!

The adventure is set on a homebrew sandy island, so I thought that a Sandshaper was perhaps appropriate, without being set on playing one so far though.

Silverbrow Human (Necropolitan too a good idea?)

Sorcerer 1 - Necrotic Cyst, Eschew Materials, Snowcasting (Flaw), Spellcasting Prodigy (Flaw 2)
Sorcerer 2
Sorcerer 3 - Touchstone (City of the Dead)
Sorcerer 4
Sorcerer 5
Sorc 5/Sand Shaper 1 - Draconic Aura (Energy, Cold)
Sorc 5/Sand Shaper 2
Sorc 5/Sand Shaper 3
Sorc 5/Sand Shaper 4 - Blood Calls to Blood
Sorc 5/SS 5
Sorc 5/SS 6
Sorc 5/SS 7 - FEAT (Metamagic at last?)
Sorc 5/SS 7/Fiend Blooded 1
Sorc 5/SS 7/FB 2
Sorc 5/SS 7/FB 3 - FEAT
Sorc 5/SS 7/FB 4
Sorc 5/SS 7/FB 5
Sorc 5/SS 7/FB 6 - FEAT
Sorc 5/SS 7/FB 7
Sorc 5/SS 7/FB 8

What 'ya think of what I have so far? :p

Good.

What's the requirement to enter Sand Shaper again?

CL 5th, 4 ranks in survival and knowledge nature and a feat, Touchstone (City of the Dead) - which gives +1 on CHA based checks and checks to overcome SR. Does that incluce spell DC's for sorcerer spells?

"Spellcasting Prodigy (Flaw 2)"

This feat does not do what you think it does any more. Skip it.

"Eschew Materials"

I'd skip that, too. As long as you are willing to buy some generic spell components, and maybe throw a few GP at the issue every level or two, this feat effectively does nothing.

I'd get rid of those two and add maybe a metamagic, or something else that you would otherwise only get later on.

And sub out the familiar for an alternate class feature. There are some excellent ones about.

Eschew materials is combined with Snowcasting and a couple other feats to give you a +4 on your spell DC's at lvl 20 - for all spells

Now as far as Spellcasting prodigy goes I am just used to getting it for years now, for the few extra spells it offers ^^ If you have some better suggestion I am open to it though.

About the familiar, I think I saw an ACF that let you cast Metamagic adjusted spells as a standard action, I'll have to look that up, hmm :lightbulb

I think that ACF it's in PHB2.

You can also do the same stunt with a feat [rapid metamagic.... or I could be completely wrong] and use your ACF 'slot' for something else.

Ah; cheese . For some reason I completely skimmed over the snowcasting feat.

I must say that I'd rate almost anything above this feat these days. As a sorc with a lot of available spells, it seems more useful to make your spells more effective than just add a couple more. Unless you're the kind of sorc who HAS to blaze off spells every round, starting at their highest level, until they run out.

Very similiar to Snizor's "Disciple of Gaara" build: http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-884597

UPDATE:

Ok, turns out there will be just me and another Sorcerer/Warlock/Eldrich Theurge in the adventure! - which will be pretty combat focused.

I made a new build for now but I am sceptical..

Human

Beguiler 1 - Weak Will (flaw), Able Learner (got to be sort of a skill monkey), Spellcasting Prodigy (Conjurer), Cloudy Conjuration']
Conjurer 3 - Imp Initiative, Practiced Spellcaster

Going into UM using the practiced spellcaster trick to get 17 Conj CL

With abrupt jaunt 5/day instead of a familiar.

I am very worried though about wether we can make it as 2 arcane casters.. I may have to settle for a MoMf instead..

What do you think, can the 2 of us make it?

Starting at 4th level? You should be able to make it. Buy a Riding Dog, and stick some armor on it. Throw some templates on it, like Warbeast, Magebred, etc, if the DM will let you. Or buy something even better. Let it be your "tank".

Are you getting some kind of Rapid Summoning ability? If you are, you could just let summoned critters "tank", but having a big disposable meat-shield 24/7 with Scent and a Trip attack can be pretty handy. And at that level, even a standard riding dog is still fairly tough.

Of course, you could also just Charm some NPC meat-shield. :D

A beguiler, eh?

What does your DM think of Rainbow Servant?

I doubt he'd allow it but anyway, I don't see us getting much farther than level 10 or so, and the RS build is kinda late-blooming, dont you think? :P

Great idea, I'll go plan that right ahead. Oh, the other player said he may take Improved Familiar, though I haven't got a clue to whether that can substitute the dog for lower levels.
