Yeah, I got a thought: I don't think Celestian works as a deity if he's N, not LN.

good point..... one alignment means either LN or NG ....but will adjust

still what i like is that this character Never Eats or Sleeps and is Constantly providing Healing(Fast Healing 2) to his party, and can Wild Shape as a Druid of His CHARACTER level(plant forms only)

but what feats:

Wlidshape feats....Dragononic Wildshape(to get Dragon Forms), Exalted Wildshape, Aberant Wildshape(for Beholder and other Aberation forms)

Reserve feats:

from Complete Champion....there is Water Devotion(sp???) allows you to just pour out a waterskin to summon a Water elemental

healing Reserve feat???

Sun Domain feat????

Divine Metamagic????

this build also has great Skills.....Bardic Knowledge and lots of Knowledge skills...easily can fill Sage position for party

has great Combat ability thru Wildshape and Immunities and spells..... can even convert spells to Sacred Fire similar to Spellfire for ranged touch attacks

even a VOP will work great as he doesnt need any items

how would you improve or finish this build???

I think you would want augment healing in there to pump your healing spells. Then again with the fast healing it might be less of a worry. Good for quick healing in combat though.

Nice build. I have a question which is not exactly useful. Do immunities prevent a character from beneficial effects? This guy is immune to polymorph, but still uses wildshape. Does that work? I have assumed that immunities work when most beneficial, ie you can turn off immunity to mind-affecting things to take advantage of morale bonuses.

It looks good, but I am not a big fan of celestial mystic. No real reason, I have just never liked it.

I know it says "is otherwise like the wild shape druid class feature", but is that enough to allow you to buy wild shape feats like that?

this build also has great Skills.....Bardic Knowledge and lots of Knowledge skills...easily can fill Sage position for party

cloistered cleric lore, as bardic knowledge, improves with class level, not character level. so you'd be running around with just a 5+int bonus there... I guess that's alright, but there is an efficiency loss with levels here.

I do like this "healing machine" though. ;) btw. any thoughts on what his body of nature looks like?

Dark1ord:

both cloistered Cleric and Celestial mystic give Bardic Knowledge, they stack....thus it is +15 to Knowledge checks...and of course he will have 5 ranks in Knowledge(History) to get an additional +2 = +17 + Int bonus

i never thought about his appearance.... but since he has Herbs that grow on him that he can pick and give to others or himself, that have healing properties.... he is probably leafy

Ander Spectacular:

yes it works... because the same class that makes him immune to Polymorph also allows him to Wildshape... Landforged Walker does this

Echilda

i was thinking of something better than augment healing... as it only affects the healing spells he casts.... reserve feats are far more useful...as they are a resource that doent run out, unless you cast the Reserve spell that they are drawing from

one nice thing is that he can prepare spells that you normally dont prepare.......and still be very effective

if he used Spontaneous Domain casting variant(Travel)... he makes an ideal Transporter for time when you need to leave or move quickly

:D

oh sorry didn't see that on CM. however, CC lore is, well, lore, not bardic knowledge. I do realize that if you're not too strict about that sort of thing you'd probably say they stacked.

hm, now that I read the CM closer, it just says "mystical knowledge check" (under blessing of the pearly heaven). and once again, it uses "otherwise" (like with the plant shape thing).

dunno how that sort of thing is usually handled. if they meant it to stack (i.e. in all effects, be the same), wouldn't they have written that? or rather, called it the same... name's different, mechanic is the same - should we assume from this equivalence that it stacks? is that really what "otherwise" means? (I daresay this line of thought has the further effect of us not being able to apply equivalent (in the just mentioned sense) class features several times... unless we decide that "otherwise" is a crucial component.)

(I realize this is probably off-topic, but your build happened to be a good example of this sort of thing.)

the term "otherwise" in this context seems to be that it is Identical to the other class ability Mentioned except for the mentioned Differences....... thus the Plant Shape ability does indeed qualify for wildshape feats, and the Blessings of the Pearly Heavens does stack with classes that give Bardic Knowledge..

take for example.... the Lore that the Loremaster gets...notice:
Lore: At 2nd level, a loremaster gains the ability to know legends or information regarding various topics, just as a bard can with bardic knowledge. The loremaster adds her level and her Intelligence modifier to the lore check, which functions otherwise exactly like a bardic knowledge check.

same class ability effect from a different source

Just to clear things up a bit more- doesn't Wildshape replicate an ability like Alternate Form now, as opposed to polymorph? Thus a character immune to polymorphing can still wildshape as its like alternate shape.

I love warforged. So much. I was thinking about throwing together a Landforged when my artificer took Ironwood body... but never got to it. Augment healing would definitely help, DMM Persist for Divine Power and/or Visage of the Deity would be pretty nice. You could still for for some melee... use that battlefist!

here is a fun Plant form he can get @ 12th Level:

Saguaro Sentinel
Huge Plant
12HD
20' speed
+15 Natural Armor
2 slams 3d6+ str
33 Str
8 Dex
25 Con

Thorns(EX)...1d6 to any that hit him with unarmed or Natural attacks or that are Pushed or Fall against him... or are grappled

Trample(EX) Ref DC 27 1/2 damage

other feats i was thinking about:

Imbued Healing ....give some nice abilties when healing others

Knowledge Devotion(Domain) ... with 20 Int and 5 ranks each knowledge category : get minimum +3 Insight to Attack and Damage vs ALL creatures.... can be up to +5 insight if i roll 10+ .... for the entire combat...can use this all day over and over again

Water Devotion(Domain) ..... can summon a Water elemental when needed with water

usually, when stuff stacks like that, it's mentioned in the description, right? also, isn't it usually mentioned if the stuff we're talking about that's like something else allows you to actually treat it as that something else, when buying feats and qualifying for prestige classes etc.?

"otherwise" could refer to feature mechanics not mentioned (where you'd have to go read the feature itself)... dunno if it refers to "you can substitute [the name of this thing] for [the name of the thing it's like] with regards to feats, prestige classes and stuff"...

-oh, btw., as for damage stuff... simple thing; would war domain + holy warrior (CC 60) suit ya? dunno if it fits (or if you can swing it; an extra domain shouldn't be hard to get, huh?)...

yes ...both excellent forms.... will post more possible forms later..... Blood bloom Swarm is also nice for Flight as well

Briarvex??? spelling , IIRC is a great Humanoid form...but the Battlebriar(12HD form) seems the best once you get to 12th lvl

In regards to the Celestial Mystic...is it really the most optimized 10 level filler? I know the 10th level ability is fairly decent but, it seems there are so much more. I don't really know if you're going for a heal-bot or a plant-bot.

If the latter, the Verdant Lord (3.0...easily converted) is a very strong PrC that would work quite well and give a nice +10 BAB. Also, don't forget the Nature's Warrior/Warshaper combo to make best use of your Plant Wildshape. Oh, and extra wildshape might be handy eventhough you have, potentially, 60 hours worth of wildshaping under your belt per day.

Just some thoughts...I really love Landforged Walkers and it's nice to see 'em put to use.

actually the goal with this character is:

1)to require nothing to be effective ... great when party springs a Teleport trap(sends you one place, and all your equipment somewhere else)
2)to be useful to the party 24/7.... even without resting if necessary
3)to fill several needs: Healing, Information(knowledge skills), Combat(Melee and Spells)
4)to be fun and effective his entire career(1st-20th+)
5)to be easy to play

here are the feats i am thinking to use in the final build:

1st: Ironwood Body
3rd: Sacred Vow
6th: Vow of Poverty, Nymphs Kiss(VOP bonus)
8th: Vow of Abstinence(VOP bonus)
9th: Extend Spell
10th: Servant of the Heavens(VOP bonus)
12th: Knowledge Devotion(domain), Nimbus of Light(VOP bonus)
14th: Holy Radience(VOP bonus)
15th: Summon Elemental(reserve)
16th: Exalted Wildshape(VOP bonus)
18th: Dimensional Jaunt(reserve), Exalted Turning(VOP bonus)
20th: Touch of Golden Ice(VOP bonus)

Seeing as how this character is already making use of his skills.......Knowledge Devotion(Domain) is a Great feat that BOOSTS COMBAT with Knowledge....you gain Insight Bonuses to Hit and Damage

the Reserve feats give constant use of practical abilities:
Summoning Elementals....... i can choose what type to fit any situtation, and they start with Small, then go to Medium, then finally i can summon Large elementals... all day if necessary

Dimensional Jaunt ......... gives some handy Teleportation(35' range )...but costs nothing

the VOP simply is more efficient as i only need to spend 1 feat and get the other 2 for free...the rest of the Exalted Feats enhance my class Abilities:

Nymphs Kiss....gives Extra Skill points and Boost to Diplomacy
Nimbus of Light and Holy Radience and Exalted Turning all are for the 10th lvl Celestial Mystic Class Ability..... thus when Undead are inside 10' rad...if they have:

less than 10HD...they are Turned and take 3d6+1d4 damage
more than 10HD.. they cant regenerate and take 1d4/round

also i have a Constant Magic Circle Vs Evil effect as well

Exalted Wildshape ...... allows for some Magical Beast forms...and i can get the (SU) and (EX) abilities of the forms

Touch of Golden Ice ............. is just handy to have to give a little boost of ability damage during combat

VOP benifits
VOP benifits

1st lvl +4 Exalted Bonus to AC
2nd lvl Exalted Feat
3rd lvl +5 Exalted AC/ constant Endure Elements
4th lvl +1 enhancement to all attacks/Feat
5th lvl No need to Eat or Drink(similar to ring of sustenance
6th lvl +6 Exalted AC/ +1 Deflection AC/feat
7th lvl +1 resistance to all saves/ +2 Enhancement (1 Ability)
8th lvl +1 natural Armor/ mind shielding(sim to ring)/feat
9th lvl +7 Exalted AC
10th lvl +2 enhancement to all attacks/ DR 5/feat
11th lvl +4/+2 Enhancement(2 Abilities)
12th lvl +8 Exalted AC/ +2 Deflection AC/ No need to Breath/feat
13th lvl +2 Resistance all Saves/ Energy Resistance 5 (All Elements)
14th lvl +3 Enhancement to all attacks/Freedom of movement constant/feat
15th lvl +9 Exalted AC/+6/+4/+2 Enhancement(3 Abilities)/ DR 5/EVIL
16th lvl +2 Natural Armor/feat
17th lvl +4 Enhancement to all attacks/+3 Resistance all saves/ Regeneration
18th lvl +10 Exalted AC/ +3 Deflection/ True Seeing constant effect/feat
19th lvl +8/+6/+4/+2 Enhancement (4 Abilities)/DR 10/EVIL
20th lvl +5 Enhancement to all attacks/ Energy Resistance 15 (All elements)feat

Hmmm, I was wondering if the base class could be changed to archivist instead of cloistered cleric in order to get the nifty int synergy (or avoid the wis penalty) of the warforged race?

Also, I was on the Eberron board at some point and I remember a story about a warforged who had both the ironwood body feat and the nymph's kiss feat, and the story behind it was that a dryad's tree had been inadventantly chopped down and used in the warforged's construction. The dryad lived of course, but now was bound instead to the warforged, instead of her tree.

It was an interesting story really. Quite doable for this character.

prototype00

P.s. How are you handling material components? You don't have the eschew components feat and I just hate having to beg fellow party members for it. (And you really can't afford the 1gp thing)

Edit: Ah, I just realized that archivist are even worse with Vop having to own spellbooks and buy spells and all. Please disregard.

VOP allows you to have a Spell component Pouch.... filled with material components.... but for expensive components(+1GP value) he will have to beg.... but a lot of his abilities dont require casting spells

still the only slots that could be freed up are:

1st: Ironwood Body
3rd: Sacred Vow
6th: Vow of Poverty, Nymphs Kiss(VOP bonus)
8th: Vow of Abstinence(VOP bonus)
9th: Feat
10th: Servant of the Heavens(VOP bonus)
12th: Knowledge Devotion(domain), Nimbus of Light(VOP bonus)
14th: Holy Radience(VOP bonus)
15th: Summon Elemental(reserve)
16th: Exalted Wildshape(VOP bonus)
18th: Feat , Exalted Turning(VOP bonus)
20th: Touch of Golden Ice(VOP bonus)

but what to put...... Healing Reserve feat and Eschew Materials

or some other Reserve Feats???

8th: Vow of Abstinence(VOP bonus)
9th: Eschew Materials
10th: Servant of the Heavens(VOP bonus)
12th: Knowledge Devotion(domain), Nimbus of Light(VOP bonus)
14th: Holy Radience(VOP bonus)
15th: Summon Elemental(reserve)

Only the picture is 'Swampthingish.' It is actually customizable to any landscape and actually includes examples for being a Landforged of the desert, underdark, etc. The picture (and most subsequent thoughts) only adapt it to a Forest/Jungle setting.
