| #1bigbadslogApr 24, 2009 1:31:43 | I'll start off by saying, that I'm quite new at CO, and have been playing vanilla characters for quite some time. A friend has introduced me to the joys of bending a character to the point of breaking, thus I'm trying to think in that direction. That being said, I would like the boards take on a recent idea. What have I missed? What can be added? What should be removed or changed? And importantly to me, what other races might I have overlooked with this idea. This started with the idea of a melee character that ignores the need for doors, or existing passages, and turned into this. Start with a Warforged Charger. Add two levels of fighter. Five levels of Warforged Juggernaut Top it off with ten levels of War Hulk, with a LA buy off at 12, to fit all of this into 20 levels. Assuming a starting strength of 16: Base 16 Racial +10 Levels +5 Items +6 (at least) Inherent bonuses from books, wishes, etc, +5 Our boy ends up with a strength of 42. I know this isn't spectacular around these parts, but I liked it. Add to that the WF Chargers Adamantine Fists, and he can pound his way through any barrier. Not to mention running over or through most dungeon denizens that stand in his way. What do you think? What am I missing? |
| #2jetstrike3000Apr 24, 2009 2:09:23 | Any race with poison immunity. Monk 1 Fighter 1 Ranger 1 Cancer Mage 1 Get the disease Festering Anger Wait |
| #3curufinApr 24, 2009 2:59:43 | Maybe Warblade instead of fighter. If you can combine Charging Minotaur with the Superior Bull Rush and Greater Powerful Charge. You shouldn't get to double up on the strength bonus, but it's an extra 2d6 bludgeoning on a charge. It isn't a huge boost, but it builds on your theme of a mobile battering ram. |
| #4ithamarApr 24, 2009 11:54:40 | I hope you're using the Dungeon Crasher variant of Fighter from Dungeonscape. Makes bull rushing worth it! |
| #5bigbadslogApr 24, 2009 13:28:48 | Thank you jetstrike3000. That is the most hilariously brilliant thing I've heard all day. You, Ithamar, are absolutely correct. And later combined with the huge pushing multiple target attacks of the Warhulk, will make that even more fun. Good point about some extra damage curufin, but I wanna keep the dungeon crashing fighter goodness. I was thinking of enchantments for his fists. I have collision and impact, I know I want to add those. Brutal surge is thematically awesome, and it lets me bull rush for free without following them around. Can anyone think of any more/other weapon enchants that would benefit? Or maybe getting his strength higher? Also, tips or ideas on getting his strength freaky high without resorting to Warhulk. Increasing his BAB would be a good thing. |
| #6surrealApr 25, 2009 3:39:12 | Are you forgetting to count racial hd? They have 4 construct hd and LA+4 |
| #7sofawallApr 25, 2009 8:45:55 | Too many people don't realize you add HD and LA. LA is worse than HD, as HD at least gives hp and saves. Once you add buyoff in, though, it's all in LAs favour. |
| #8dr_rocktopusApr 25, 2009 11:56:56 | Not precisely true. LA 3+ is still incredibly destructive to the playability of a character even with buy-off. Anything above four can't even be bought off pre-epic. I prefer 3hd over 3 la. Depends on the hit-dice though. |
| #9sofawallApr 25, 2009 12:12:53 | 2 LA is preferable, then. Also, animal, undead, ooze, none of those are usually worth it. Dragon and Outsider, on the other hand... |
| #10dr_rocktopusApr 25, 2009 12:20:15 | You might consider using the Incarnate Construct template to get some hacky-juices flowing. Savage Species, though. |
| #11bigbadslogApr 25, 2009 16:00:04 | Drat, blast, and other appropriate curses! I did forget that racial hd and LA add together. Now it looks like I'm going to be rethinking this one all together. I still want to put together something that smashes through walls like tissue paper, but its going to take a bite more thought it seems. This is why I posted here. You folks miss nothing it seems. I'll do some research and see what I come up with next. |
