| #1supertonneMay 01, 2008 15:34:15 | So, I'm playing a 4th level wizard. I don't like being restricted or otherwise rendered incapable, be it by grappling, or being underwater, or without components, silenced, handcuffed...stuff like that. So, these are the feats I'm thinking of. 1st A feat for some bonus charisma class skills, this is an RP thing (and it grants me UMD.) Human Eschew Materials 3rd Sudden Silent (Got Bracers of Arcane Freedome, 2/day still spell up to 3rd level) We get feats at odd levels, so next.... 5th Wizard Sudden Still 5th Sudden Maximize I will either go for Sudden Quicken, or possible retrain some of the suddens into regular metamagic feats. Does this sound terribly crippled, or viable? I'm not going for overpowered, but I don't want to be the wizard that has to mud wrestle an ogre in a sticky bog while the fighters slog their way through a crowd to rescue my pathetic self.....without Haste, because I'm pinned. Oh yeah, I always have an Alter Self ready just in case I need to swim and breath water or something like that. Thank you for any suggestions. |

It allows you to memorize more "tool box" spells which you can always drop for divination you normally memorize. I also like Shadow Conjuration and Shadow Illusion a lot. There are a ton of spells you can cast with these two in your list. The better you are with Illusions, the better these work for you so Spell Focus, Greater Spell Focus, (being a Gnome), and the Master Specialist PrC help a BUNCH. Alacritous Cogitation is a feat that allows you to freely cast a single spell as spontaneous. Since these "special situations" don't come up every day, much less multiple times per day, this can help you be flexible. Lastly, I think Spontaneous Domain caster can help you if you get access to a good domain (like Spell which has Anyspell). |

I say invest in improved initative instead and know the nerveskelter spell so that you'll almost never lose an intitative check so you're much less likely to be in a bad position. |

Im actually using that combo right now. w00t for +12 to initiative! the only thing better is celerity |

You need to be a changeling (not sure what race you specified) and you lose a caster level, but you get to pretty much emulate a bunch of metamagic feats spontaneously a few times a day. http://64.223.12.31/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20050407b&page=3 |
