This has been used to expand the use of Chaotic Spell Recall, but I thought it might work with Abyssal Specialist (Drow of the Underdark p. 60) as well. If Planar Spellcasting works the way I think it does, you get to be a specialist in all your spells, with one barred school. I haven't seen Spell Focus [Chaotic] anywhere, but given that it exists for [Evil] and [Good], it's not much of a stretch. |
| #2CantripNNov 25, 2008 5:30:45 | Yeah, that seems to work quite well with Abyssal Specialist... Nice find! I wonder, can you be a Focused Specialist (Abyssal)? I think so. Play a Chaos Gnome is LA-buyoff is allowed, and you may use a non-drow. Otherwise, a Lesser Drow or a Half-Drow would be best, failing the option of Human or the like. Wizard 10 / Escalation Mage 6 / Incantatrix 4 ACFs: Focused Specialist (Abyssal) - Lose Enchantment and Necromancy (and 9th level Illusion, later...) Planar Spellcasting (Chaos) Feats: Otyugh's Hole - Iron Will 1 - Cloak of the Obyrith 1B - Scribe Scroll 3 - Chaotic Spell Recall 5B - Extend Spell 6 - Precognitive Visions 9 - Keeper of Forbidden Lore 12 - Residual Magic 15 - Persistant Spell 17B - Chain Spell 18 - Metamagic School Focus (Chaos) 20B - Eschew Materials ... 21 - Epic Spellcasting 24 - Ignore Material Components BAB: +10 Saves: +9 Fort / +6 Ref / +15 Will |

| #4rasmus_wagnerNov 25, 2008 6:45:56 | Spell Focus (alignment) does exist in Complete Divine (p.84) but it really sucks. Thanks! But I'm curious, how does +1 DC for every single one of my spells suck? |
| #5CantripNNov 25, 2008 6:48:08 | Thanks! But I'm curious, how does +1 DC for every single one of my spells suck? It doesn't suck, it's just that feats are supposed to be much better than that. ...unless you're planning to reach a crazy DC by devoting your entire feat allotment to that. |
| #6ChristopherGrovesNov 25, 2008 6:53:22 | Hmm. If you did good that Holy Scourge thing boosts your CL for [good] spells. |
| #7tana_sanNov 25, 2008 7:01:13 | Thanks! But I'm curious, how does +1 DC for every single one of my spells suck? Well, if you put it that way it doesn’t seem that bad at all. ![]() The reason I said it is because a) it doesn’t stack with other SF, b) it only increase DC by 1 unlike SF (Good) from BoED and c) it seem that it doesn’t have Greater SF. |

| #9masterjoda999Nov 27, 2008 19:23:48 | A thought occurs: since Abyssal specialist states that you are considered a specialist wizard, how does that work with the master specialist in complete mage? |
| #10CantripNNov 28, 2008 2:43:22 | A thought occurs: since Abyssal specialist states that you are considered a specialist wizard, how does that work with the master specialist in complete mage? Oddly. You'd need your DM to write-up Esoterica for it. Otherwise, it's a fine class for this. |
| #11rasmus_wagnerNov 28, 2008 2:46:02 | A thought occurs: since Abyssal specialist states that you are considered a specialist wizard, how does that work with the master specialist in complete mage? You could take it for the feats and CL increase, but you lose the esoterica. Might be worthwhile. |
| #12atomickitkatNov 28, 2008 6:26:34 | Should also synch up nicely with Paragnostic Apostle, allowing you to convert half of all damage(yeah yeah, blasters suck, etc.) from {Chaotic} tagged spells into pure damage(like Flame Strike). |
| #13CantripNNov 28, 2008 8:43:54 | Should also synch up nicely with Paragnostic Apostle, allowing you to convert half of all damage(yeah yeah, blasters suck, etc.) from {Chaotic} tagged spells into pure damage(like Flame Strike). I'd thought that was so, but then I reread it. What it actually does is do that to spells that harm someone of opposite alignment to your chosen subtype. Thus, you only get against Lawful foes. |
| #14atomickitkatDec 02, 2008 11:27:22 | Well, that sucks. Somewhat. Still, long-live Chaos!:P |
