I am trying to optimize a character to have the highest AC it can, as well as spell resistance and saves, any idea? I was thinking of making him a race that has natural SR and then pally/hexblade/monk/fist of forest/then make him into a phantom for some Cha to AC, hell I dunno.

Any recommendations? This is an npc who may be the villain, haven't decided, so gear isn't a big deal and any book goes.

Go to the handy links, and search for "highest ac" or something like that. Otto the Bugbear has at least two different threads on it.

Actually if your going for the melee type, you should try this .

Pixie swordsage (Unarmed varient)/Shaman (OA)/RKV/XXX.

If you go the shadowhand route, grab Shadowblade (Dex to Attack and Damage), Cha to Saves, Animal companion, Spontaneous casting. Grab VOP, boost your Wis/Dex/Cha is a close 3rd position on the stat's. So if you go with VOP around lvl 20, you should have a +8 into wis, +6 into Dex, +4 into Cha, +2 into con.

Or go with a Warlock/shaman/ED/Monk 1/XXX with Vow of poverty around lvl 21st. NOT in this exact order. If you want exact, I would go Monk 1, Warlock 1/Shaman 5/ED 10/XXX

That way you can buy the book's to raise your stat's, if dont right you get an AC of atleast 40+, and your invisible if you go pixie lol.

You can get over 100 AC in core.

Boring the players to death is not a very good strategy though.

Boring 'no', but in my groups games, a High AC and saves ensures survival of the character because the DM is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY cruel.
