Acrobatic-Roguish Swordsage

Jan 31, 2009 13:54:58 One of may players consulted me about rebuilding his rather nondescript rogue into something else of his liking.He chose swordsage, and now wants to go for thief-acrobat and then bloodclaw master. Any suggestions on maneuvers, feats, or alternate prestige classes?

Thief-Acrobat is a solid PRC. Unfortunatelly, you need evasion to qualify and Swordsage only gets it at 9 :/

Swordsage/Rogue could work, really, for this - specially with fraction BAB. Rogue 2/Swordsage 3/Thief-Acrobat 4 is a good start; spending a feat to get Assassin's Stance early is doable, as is going Rogue 3/Swordsage 3.

Also, check my fighting defensively guide - it deals with Thief-Acrobat

I haven't compared for efficiency, but what about a Stalwart Sorcerer, Arcane Cha-based Generic Spellcaster, Martial Wizard or qualification via the Magical Training feat? Am I missing something vital as to why it's Bard 3? Starting skill-points?

You need Perform (dance) for the Dancing With Shadows feat.

Back on topic, sorry OP, I don't know much about Thief-Acrobats, but I do know of a build you can pick for ideas. It's called "Feral Dreadlord" and it's made by Tleilaxu_Ghola. It's the first hit in a Google search of "Feral Dreadlord". It's a Tome of Battle build that has Bloodclaw Master and Swordsage levels. It has levels of Rogue in it.

Swordsages, by the RAW, get (Int mod + 6)*6 skill points at first level. Disclaimer: I know it may be considered a typo. No, it doesn't make Swordsages better than Wizards. Don't mention Arcane-adapted Swordsages. No, Tome of Battle doesn't make BSFs stupid overpowered.

Generic classes are intended to be used only with generic classes and as such I usually avoid it - I wouldn't allow them in my game, so I think other DMs wouldn't as well.
And the typo is adressed in the errata, I believe.
