| #1pfootiMar 20, 2008 22:27:46 | So, I've finally gotten my wish: I get to play an Ur-Theurge. A level 15 one. Wizard5/Mindbender1/Ur-Priest2/Mystic Theurge7. That's 9th-level spells from Ur-priest and 7th from wizard. It's looking like there will be some possible direct PvP against a parallel good group in the campaign, although it might end up just being indirect struggle via intermediate pawns. Other things worth knowing: stats are good enough to support dual casting, but not much else exciting. The level progression is fixed, and beyond Mindsight and prereqs, I'm pretty flexible on feats. Sources available are: base 3.5 (core, completes, etc) and Forgotten Realms stuff. I asked the DM how he felt about blatant Blasphemy abuse, and he was opposed to it. So I get the sense that it might not be too good an idea to break the game Too wide open (e.g., watch my miracles). But that doesn't prevent me from wanting to play a very nice and powerful setup. What I'm looking for is not general advice about casters (I'm good at casters, and have read all the handbooks), but some specific advice about playing an ur-theurge, especially at this fairly high level. Any spell combinations, feat choices and must-have magic items. I'm not sure if I want to specialize or not - the Ur-priest side would replace a ton of lost spells if I chose the right schools to avoid. There aren't (as far as I can see) any real handbooks for the ur-theurge, let alone a CO Diary that would clue me in to the subtle plays that are possible here. I'm also considering going the undead-horde-necromancer route, but the ur-priest's rebuke undead is strictly for powering divine feats, his turnlevel is too low to be useful. Anyway, any advice is welcome, especially advice about how to best leverage this temporary advantage (I've got 9th-level spells at CL 15, two full levels early, and will just get beefier as time goes on). |
