| #1temetnosceMay 13, 2009 11:14:36 | Simply put, I've gotten out of D&D lately (back when 4E came out I tried it and then stopped playing D&D for a bit) and just recently came back. One of my friends offered to DM a solo gestalt game for me, and I'm working on combining a Beshadowed Blade ala http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-713640, with an Ur-Priest build using DMM Persist for buffs. The starting level is seven, and I'm playing a Snow Elf and using the flaw rules as well, all books are allowed. I'm trying to get both parts of this set up in the beginning build (My main goal is to have the relevant feats for DMM persist, access to Ur-Priest by level 5, and adaptive style, weapon finesse, and shadow blade at a minimum at the start of the game). Now, I've found a way to manage this with flaws (my DM isn't capping how many I take so long as I run it by him), but this leaves me with several levels to fill on one side of my build. I'll probably take at least one fighter level since it's an easy way to snap up a needed feat, but that still leaves me with several spare levels (and the levels after Ur-Priest) to play with. Currently I'm considering some levels of Rogue or Beguiler possibly for skills (and a little bit of utility magic), but I'm open to other options. Suggestions? |

I didn't roll good enough stats to put a good Cha (it was already 7), and bluntly with Nightsticks it just doesn't matter that much. There's a rule against dual progression classes for Gestalt. I might get my DM to let me break it, but I haven't asked yet. I've thought about it though. We'll see. If this thread doesn't end up with a build progression I like I may try it anyways. Gish, but remember I'm also a one person party so having options is good. That's why I've been considering doing some Rogue or Beguiler. |

Also adds incredible versatility and some arcane SLAs I don't have that many spare levels, or even close. Although I do like Factotum, I might consider it but I'll have to check the book for good break levels. |

This gets you Shadowblade early on but requires wasting feats for Martial Study and Stance for Devoted Spirit unless you want to take a level or two of Crusader or your DM lets you adjust the maneuver/stance prereqs. Factotum 1/ Swordsage 2/ Crusader 2/ Ur-Priest 2/ RKV 10/ Master of Nine 3 or Fact 1/ Sword 3/ Crus 1 would work as well. If you can somehow manage it you could take only 9 levels of RKV and then take 4 levels of Telfammar Shadowlord for some shadow pouncing shenanigans at higher levels. |
| #7temetnosceMay 14, 2009 9:01:44 | Factotum 1/ Swordsage 4/ Ur-Priest 2/ RKV 10/ Master of Nine 3 Heh, it's for a gestalt as I stated earlier. I'm using something like Swordsage 3/Fighter 1/Warblade 1/Swordsage +1/Blood Claw Master 2/Fighter +1/Warblade +1/Swordsage +2/Warblade +1/Swordsage +4/Blood Claw Master +1/Swordsage +2 for one side, and an Ur-Priest set up I'm not entirely sure of for the other. I may adjust this side of it as well if it seems like a good idea. I'll give the Shadowlord suggestion some thought though. |

There's only a certain number of pre listed UA flaws, and some I don't want to take. Further, while my DM will let me run flaws I invent by him they'll have to be serious flaws, and I need a damned lot of feats. Also, am I missing something? I just rechecked but I don't see anything prohibiting me taking both. If you're referring to the Gestalt rules, then yeah it's true I can't take them at the same level, I pulled that build stub from the latest version of the Beshadowed Blade. |

But yeah, as far as I see you'd need to sacrifice 3 initiator level to take factotum so you can still get 9th level maneuvers and 9th level spells if you do it right. |
