| #1waazraathFeb 27, 2010 9:09:25 | I know having a high AC isn't the best way to optimize a build, but I'm expermenting with one that should be playable... some advice would be appreciated! Race: lesser aasimar Classes: battledancer 1 / ninja (CA) 1 / sor 1 / paladin of freedom 3 / warblade 1 / abjurant champion 5 / jade phoenix mage 8 Feats: no idea yet, except combat casting as prereq for abjurant champion This combination gives 18 BAB, great saves & great AC, already at lvl 3 with mage armor and shield I come up to AC 27, if I put high ability scores in cha & wis. At level 10 AC 40 should be easily reachable, even without much AC items. Cast spells as level 12 sor, casterlevel 19. Initiator level 14. But: is this character viable? Especially at lower levels, I don't see it doing much damage yet, also the BaB-loss is here. (At later level this can be solved with martial strikes & spells.) Another problem: it's survivability. AC is good, but again at lower levels, HP won't be too good. Any opinions on this? Or any suggestions on which feats to pick to overcome the weaknesses of the character, or alternate class features? Thnx in advance! |

Idea is to go without armor, from lvl 3 with mage armor, from lvl 10 with luminous armor (from book of exalted deeds), and from level 15 with greater luminous armor. Abjurant champion adds class level as bonus to AC from abjuration spells, so shield (swift action) gives +9, Greater luminous armor +13 (and an additional -4 to attackers in melee, so effectively +17). Combined with 3 ability scores to AC, I don't need any "real" armor. |

This is my PC: brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.p... It's a lot like yours, except I'm Gestalt. Tips: Swiftblade is better for your surviavbility than anything else. A Monk's Belt also gives WIS to AC, without wasting a level on it, but if you're going that way, just take Ascetic Mage to get CHA to AC again. The Magic-Blooded Template gives +2 CHA, -2 WIS, and some SLA and Skill Bonuses at +0 LA. Much of your AC will be coming from spells, so don't neglect your spellcasting for other things - other than CHA to AC, none of this is worth the lost levels of spellcasting (Swiftblade is worth it, of course). Divine Champion is GOOD. As is Stalwart Sorcerer. Other than that, the most important thing is to get more Spellcasting. Talk to your DM about Sorcerers getting more spells known and a progression that doesn't delay them a level for each spell level (base your arguement of Favored Soul and demand an additional +1 Spellcasting built in). If you do this, you'll have a playable and fun PC. If you don't, you'll have a high-AC and Saves, but be an otherwise useless PC. |
