As the titel suggest, a friend and me are gonna kill a lich, who also is a players former character.

The lich will be lvl 14 cleric (I think full cleric lvl) and be surrunded by swarms oof undead creatures.

The ones going after this lich will be a lvl 14 warlock and me: 3 wizard, 3 human paragon, 8 Incantatrix. The thing with this enounter is that they will try to kill one of the players (internal conflict, don't go there) horribly just for the sake of it. And they will most likely be prepared for us.

I would love some suggestions on the tactic we tinkered up against said lich... oh... the lich also has a lvl 13 wizard/incantatrix friend that will join when he/she is notified of combat.

Anyways, I was thinking about polymorph and anti-magic field as the best ways to really humiliate this lich. Polymorph into a big thingie that wields an ever bigger weapon, full power attack and boom goes the lich. Ofcourse with Anti-magic field in place, the lich will be... kinda sad, no?

Am I thinking to much, to little or just plain wrong? Is the the greatestest idea you've ever seen and you wanna be my groupie? (You can't!)
Some suggestions or comments on this would be greatly appriciated!

Do you plan on sculpting the antimagic field to exclude yourself?

Can't lichs dispel magic?

Fighting slowly while having them waste their spells is usually the easiest way.
Or find a cleric willing to turn him..

It would be good to be immune to paralysis, since lich's can use paralyzing touch at-will. Going in with freedom of movement active suffices. You can have the warlock use a couple of scrolls of that before you teleport in (or whatever your method of entry is).

There's a good chance the lich will be themed on necromancy. It wouldn't be a bad idea to go in with death ward and maybe sheltered vitality (Spell Compendium 188) active. Again, the warlock can use scrolls right before you teleport in.

Another option is to buy a talisman of undying fortitude (Magic Item Compendium 188). It costs 8,000 gp and you can activate it as a swift action twice a day to gain undead immunities for three rounds. Six rounds is plenty of time to screw over a necromancy-themed enemy.

Maximized lucent lance rinse and repeat.  It does solid damage at 90 pts and blinds him.  Thats what I did with my first lich encounter and basically you blind him move aways behind and repeat.  It keeps him from hitting you as long as you make your SR rolls.  Assay SR goes along way with that.

Get hide from undead, it will handle the mindless ones and maybe the controlled ones.Yes I know that it ends if you attack. But if you need to break to heal yourselves, its perfect. Another suggestion would be Dimension Door for short range tele's. As I'm pointing out, when fighting swarms, you need to avoid AoO

Thanks so much for all the great ways of destorying a lich... But I think I actually got this one myself. PLanar Binding: Astral Deva, and buff him to eternity. Let him loose in there with us as backup and lich be deed!

If you can't find and destroy his phylactery, all you're going to do is piss him off. Then he's going to teleport in and murderize you in your sleep.
