Ah, hello OP board It's been quite some time since I've used these boards. I see things have changed, for the worse mostly lol. Anyway, I need a little help with a build I'm trying to Op.

I'm going to run a Drow paladin, sounds weird possibly even wrong to some degree, but I love the Dark elves & my current DM is running a post-apocalyptic world of evil campaign & I have to make an unlike hero of light; I was told that we will not be playing with LA if it's under 3, so I thought Drow, However I need a little help.

here's my Pc: LG-Drow

Str: 16
Dex: 15 (17)
Con: 17 (15)
Int: 14 (16)
Wis: 17
Cha: 18 (20)

I'm thinking of a classic sword & board pally, without a mount; taking Charging Smite from the PHII as a sub.

-Maybe a Paladin/Cleric/KotMC/---? or maybe a Fighter/Cleric/Prestige Paladin?

Either way, I'm trying to go for a Divine Paladin gish, that will mainly act as a frontiliner, tank, &  hopefully full-ish caster heal-bot.

Any ideas/builds/advice are always welcome. All WoTC material is allowed, however I think Psionics are banned.

If it's allowed, I'd go with Tome of Battle. Maybe something like cleric 4/crusader 1/ prestige paladin 3/ ruby knight vindicator 10/ XXX, for almost full BaB and up to lvl 16 casterspell from cleric list, and loads of manouvers. It sucks you need the mounted combat though, since you don't want to fight mounted.

Or, if you want to stay closer to the "normal" paladin, you might try paladin 5, crusader 1, and then mix some ruby knight vindicator. You could make a charge-like build with shocktrooper, leap attack, powerattack, battle blessing (pally spells as swift action, donno if this works with the ruby knight's ability that you gain an extra swift action/turn though), and a spell like rhino rush (double damage on charge) and some devoted spirit & white raven manouvers that enhance charges (that you can take with ruby knight), for example battleleaders charge, warmasters charge, radiant charge, law bearer, leading the charge, etc. RAW that should stack with a double damage from rhino rush (I was recently told on these boards ) but talk to your DM. Just for the record, this is much more powerful with a 2handed weapon, but I don't know if sword & board is a "must" for your build.

I think it should be possible to add 1 or 2 levels of warblade or swordsage to the whole, just to get more nice manouvers that work well with charge (pouncing charge, duh), but it'll cost you casting (that actually gets quite nice with battle blessing and some out of core spells).

Hope this helps, even though it aren't fully wored out builds.

Ow, and only if you can get your DM drunk, it would be nice to go prestige paladin and try to have battle blessing work with it, or to have some exalted feats and get the saint template from the book of exalted deeds, which is quite amazing for only +2 LA. But only in an optimized campaign, else it's too much anyhow.

If you really want an odd paladin (but with nice synery to go with that 18 cha) maybe Paladin 2/ Bard 1/ Paladin X/ Crusader X. Take the Harmonius Knight substitution and for feats From Smite to Song, Devoted Performer, Initiate of Milil, Song of the White Raven, and Snowflake Wardance. You can also add in Extra Music, Song of the Heart, and Words of Creation to give the bardic music a boost. You'll still have the Healing and whatnot of the Paladin and Crusader but you'll also be able to buff your party quite nicely as well.

Thanks for the replies, I'll have to look into the ToB to make sure, but the Ruby knight Vin., don't I have to worship Wee Jas? I thought she was the goddess of Death, Magic, etc. Won't that com promise my Paladin code? It just seems weird to me.

Odd, but nice nevertheless, I hadn't considered dipping into a Bard...The white Raven Manuverues look awesome too. I'll have to look more into that, I'm not completely familiar with the TOB

She is, but since she's lawful neutral and deities are allowed clerics 1 step away in alignment, technically it would work. It is weird, of course, but you can see it either as a roleplay opportunity or as an inconsistancy I guess Of course, you could also talk to your DM to adapt the prestigeclass to a more suitable deity for a paladin.

Actually you might put it this way"A world without death is a world wishing for death. There would be no end to hunger, no end to pain, helpless but still living bodies would stack the street crying out in pain without end. Make no mistake death is a mercy."

I like the way you think sir, I'll have to run that by my DM, because I think he's expecting me to be "all that is holy" with my build.

Ok, well I just found out that my DM is not allowing the ToB this time around... So that kinda puts a rut into the Ruby Knight build.

What about a Paladin/Cleric/Dragonslayer or XXX/Scared Exorist? maybe going into the Vassal of Bahamut? nah, it doesn't work quite right. I'd probably be better of with a Paladin 3/Cleric 17 lol.  Just an idea.

I know your going for a Drow "Divine Gish" but have you considered a Paladin/Sorc or Wiz. build? It's CHA synergy & reduces MAD a little I guess, focus on it & you'll have your CHA to saves & bonus spells.

I'm thinking something along the lines of Paladin/Sorc/Spellsword/Abjurant Champ/Eldrich Knight would be an idea.

I think there's a feat that let's your spells be of the good descriptor IIRC, take it & show evil just how holy a fireball can be!

Mhh, that's a shame, no ToB. Do you have more info (+LA allowed next to the "free" you get, what level do  you start, other sources not allowed, ...)?

You could worship Mystra and take the feat Sword of the Arcane Order. That way you can get both arcane and divine spells. Battle Blessing is another great feat for any Paladin builds. Other palaidn ideas would be Paladin with the Divine Spirit Alternate Class feature from Dungeonscape for more healing potential,  the prestige class Gray Guard from Complete Scoundral, and the Shadowbane Stalker or Shadowbane Inquisitor from Complete Adventurer. A take on my previous posting minus the ToB parts of Crusader and Song of the White Raven would still work. You could even throw in 2 levels of Monk with Ascetic Knight and Versatile Unarmed Strike to really have some fun with Snowflake Wardance.

Let's see, All WotC material is allowed. I don't believe Psionics, ToB, or Drag. Mag. will be allowed. & I know that 3rd party isn't allowed. LA up to 3 is ignored, no LA is allowed after that & no Fractional BAB. I believe the ECL is 12, not sure, so let's assume 10.

Wow, Sword of the Arcane Order & Battle Blessing are amazeing feats, true gems for this build!
Thanks again Gorfnad.

I'm a little taboo on mixing monk with this build though.

Paladin & Sorcerer, it's very tempting & I like the build, but I really need to stay focused on Divine/Healing magicks.

How's a Fighter 2/Cleric 4/Prestige Pally 4/Radiant Servant of Pelor 10 sound? It's not completely Op but it's something...
