Greetings!

I have a bit of an issue here; it's more of an RP issue, tbh.

So my friend is starting a new campaign and I am going to play a character who will be a

ranger x/cleric 1/fighter x

quick summary of my build:

so her parents were killed by a red dragon (ranger/fav. enemy), my character swears revenge to that dragon (cleric/deity Hoar/domains Retribution and Time) and learns to fight as well (fighter)

So my problem really being the following; upon taking the cleric class, my character gains the ability to turn undead. But I see that ability somewhat irrelevant to my character, meaning I have absolutely NO use for it, I don't see it fit her at all.

I've talked with my DM and asked, if I could replace it to some other ability/skill/compensate it somehow; he's okay with it...

So I need help figuring out a reasonable "compensation" for removing the turn ability and take something else instead...

Any ideas? Since I'm full with nothing...

Thanks,

Aamaxu

Take a devotion feat from complete champion and use turn attempts to power it.

I believe the Dracomicon has Turn Dragons or something like that as an alt class feature, but It will do little good with only one level of cleric.

Unearthed Arcana has a cleric variant to exchange turn undead for Smite Evil and aura of courage.
Another option is to channel your turn undead ability into feats like divine metamagic or spontanious domains or which ever divine feat you want.

Or just swap it with a free feat (though I don't know any content to do this legitimately)

Dragon Magic, not Draconomicon.

Take a devotion feat from complete champion and use turn attempts to power it.

Or Divine feats. Destruction Devotion is good for fighting Dragons, as their Armor Class tends to be up there.

Check out Pathfinder (it's considered D&D 3.75 published by Paizo, the publishers of Dragon Mag). Instead of turning, clerics can channel energy. This energy is used to damage and frighten undead as well as heal the living. Even better, it scales. So, at level 9, you can heal the entire party for 5d6 at the cost of a turning attempt. A cleric that heals in this manner can stop using spell slots to heal and cast more other spells.
