(A wizard can cast spells from a borrowed spellbook, but I don't count that.) These are fairly obvious The CO board informed me that Extra Spell can work, especially as a Chameleon. Also, Collegiate Wizard (Complete Arcane 181) gives double the number of spells per level compared to a standard wizard. Elf generalist wizard substitution level 1 gives an extra spell known per level. Less obvious are summoning or calling creatures, having them use spells or SLAs, then creating scrolls from these spells or SLAs, and finally transfer them to one's spellbook. Unfortunately, most creatures worth calling require gate to bring to you, and I'm purposely avoiding wish-granting creatures like efreet. Speaking of wish, you may be able to use it to acquire a spellbook or a bag of spellbooks filled with nonmagical writing, or more specifically, spells. Since a standard 100-page spellbook is 5G and worth 10,005G when filled, you could get about 2.5 full spellbooks of wizard spells this way, DM willing. A RAW example that is unlikely to fly with your DM is using polymorph any object to grant the subject spellcasting. Page ? of Monster Manual V says that spellcasting is an extraordinary special attack. Finally, one could create a simulacrum of a creature capable of casting spells or SLAs on the wizard list- dragons are common examples- and create scrolls with abilities, again transferring these into scrolls. By the RAW, since most dragons don't have their spell lists explicitly listed, a wizard could create a simulacrum and get the desired spells. |

Calling may work though. I guess you could use the Leadership feat to get followers that can cast, and will allow Fearless Leader to copy. |

Im not sure if you should specify that they where written in your own magical shorthand, since this invites the DMs wrath. |
