I'm playing in a game soon where I'm planning to play a walker in the waste the one hang up though is that we may be required to play with templates which of course sucks for casters. I remembered there being kinds of planetouched other than aaismar and tiefling. I'll try to get away with wasteland dwarf or fire human from UA cause their pretty different. Otherwise the planetouched would seem to be my best bet.

Necropolitan Death Master (Libris Mortis and Dragon Compendium). If the game goes to 30th, take Walker in the Waste to 20 and then finish Death Master. If not, then Dragonwrought Desert Kobold instead and apply the Dracolich template at 20th level (then buy it off with LA Buyback). Then finish Death Master.

Call it a Double-lich. Bonus points if you can go Dragonwrought Kobold Dracolich Deathmaster 20/Walker in the Waste 10.

The other planetouched are in Fiend Folio.

In the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting there are the Gensai; Players Guide to Faerun has the Lesser Planetouched. And in the Planar Handbook or the Manual of the Planes there is Shadowswyft.

Keep in mind that all these, except the lesser variants, all have LA.

Thank's guys I'm not toosurprised to find their in some of the few books I don't have on hand. Well atleast I know I'm not slipping in my old age. I hadn't thought about dragonwrought kobold I may be able to get away with that cheese due to the dm's insistence on nonstandard +LA races. If not planetouched seems like a cheap flavorful alternative as the character I cocieved needs was dieing of heat expousure and delusional and has either been taken over by a fire/waste spirit or thinks he has.

Unfortunately we're being forced to play young for story purposes so no venerable dragonwrought, is it still worthwhile? Also I doubt LA buyoff will be allowed.

Is death master only in dragon compedium? I could try to find a copy. What make's it worthwhile?

Kobolds are worth it not matter the age (venerable is just for kicks).

The Death Master is found in a copy of Dragon mag, but I don't have the Compendium on hand to tell you what it is. As for what it offers, think of it like a Wizard/Dread Necromancer/Cleric who specs in Necromancy. It plays like a Wizard, but has tricks of the Cleric and the style of a Dread Necromancer.

And it has the added benefit of forcing the lich template on your character's race regardless of what you are. If you are all ready undead, however, the DR, stat mods, and a few other benefits stack, as stated by the class itself.

But the Dragon Compendium is a worthwhile buy if your party is into variants out the ass.

Edit: Its where the Double and Triple Lich ideas come from. Walker in the Waste does this slowly, and applies it if you managed to finish the class (regardless of requirements). Dracolich can be attained at 1st level using Player's Guide to Faerun, albeit with a -4 to a lot of stuff. So a Dragonwrought Kobold Death Master 20/Walker in the Waste 10 with the Dracolich template is undead three times over, and has three different lich templates on itself. All of which offer benefits to the character after the Death Master class feature is gained.
