Ancestral relic for a caster

Hello all
We have just started a dungeon crawling campaign, where we all get teh "ancestral relic" feat for free. Both the archer and the hammer of Moradin are deligted, and chose their weapon as relic. I, however, am a wizard, and find it a bit more difficult. Basically, I'm asking you to help me design my reliq

My char is going to be a wiz/incantatriz/archmage, so I was thinking of a headband or diadem with +spellcraft as primary? ability, and some +int besides that. After that, I was just going to toss a lot of small abilities into it, like featherfall, teleport a few times a day. I'm sure, however that people in here can do better. I'm not looking for something broken, or insanely overpowered, just something good that has a certain style
We are gestalted, and I'll have monk and rogue lvl's on the other side, so defenses and skills are ok.

The books we use are 3.5 PHB, DMG, Complete Arcane, Complete Warrior, Complete Adventurer, Complete Divine, Players Guide to Faerun, Magic of Faerun, Races of the Wild, Races of Destiny, Races of Stone, Frostborn (or whatever it's called), Lost Empires of Faerun, Expanded Psionics Handbook. No Boed except the feat itself

I hope your other 1/2 Gestalt is
Monk2/Rogue18 + Ascetic Rogue Feat and Carmendine Monk ???

Relic:
I like your idea.
I'd start with a Headband of Concious Effort, add on these abilities as possible:
Headband of Disguise (Look like a Dwarf Fighter)
Headband of Intellect (Er - be smarter ?)
Custome Item of + Spellcraft (Incantatrix requirement #1)
Anklet of Translocation (2/day 10' Teleport)
Pearls of Speech (add a language)
Artificier's Monocle

Higher Level:
Ring of Arcane Might's ability goes into it easily enough.
+Initiative Effect (Skittish Nerve based?)
Maybe even a permanent true seeing effect (One of the Faerun books has a helmet of True Seeing at 75,000gp)

almost, but not entirely I was lvl 3, when we realized that we had noone with search and disable device...since we have a houserule that once a class skill -always a classskill, I took up a lvl of scout to get trapfinding...it's faerun so my monk can multiclass as one other class If I dont take monk as highest lvl class, my fort save will suck
ascetic rogue and similar feats are banned since we play gestalt, the same way that mystic theurge etc are

Once a class-skill....
Um, Factotum ?
Int based special abilities + trapfinding + oodles of skills ?

No idea what factotum is, dont think it's in any of our books besides, we have already started the game, so I cant do any major changes to my char. But yeah, it's a VERY nice hosuerule...we just have it to simplify multiclassing

If you look at the Pathfinder RPG over at Paizo (basically 3.75) there's a redo of the wizard where they either get a familiar or a staff or a ring, and the ring is basically an ancestral relic.

It's a free download and would give you a lot of good stuff to go with your build.

hmm...MY DM starts frothing eround the mouth at the very mention of "downloads" or "this is from the internet", so I really dont think I can use the pathfinder stuff..besides, I already have a familiar, so no redoing that.

+competence bonuses to spellcraft as an incantatrix are much more broken than any of the other abilities people have suggested or anything from pathfinder

Well, it comes out as a hardback in August, so the download is just a free preview. And unlike many things "from the internet," it's done by the company that formerly published Dragon and Dungeon magazines, so it's professionally written and balanced.

Your DM is giving you a free feat. I'm just suggesting the Pathfinder wizard ring rules as something to look at for how to handle it. And if you download it yourself and hand him a printout of the relevant page, it saves some bother.

Dragon also had an "Extra Familiar" feat in one of the issues, so balance-wise, you could have both the ring and the familiar, especially if the DM is giving you a free feat.

See if he'll let you use an Item Familiar instead.

does Ring of Arcane Might stack with the ioun stone that grants + caster lvl?

Yes, they stack. They're both unnamed bonuses from separate sources. Those always stack.

Another thing you want slapped on your almighty headband of doom is Circlet of Rapid Casting from MIC. Its pretty much amazing. Its got 3 charges per day, and for 1 charge, you can autoquicken a spell of 2nd level or lower, 2 charges nets you a 3rd level spell, or bust all 3 charges to get a 4th level spell. Its like a Rod of Lesser Quicken, but less than 1/2 the price and exempt from the 1 MM Rod per spell clause, meaning you can combine it with any other MM Rod. I use one all the time on my Conjourer to lead with a Quickened Ray of Clumsiness followed by a Freezing Fog for pretty much autowin, but there are lots of great combos. Ray of Exhaustion + Escalating Enfeeblement (CMage) is also fun. Empower the EE with a Lesser MM Rod of Empower for extra kickassery.

"Almighty Headband of Doom" I like that...might even end up naming it "Ashera's Headband of Doom". The rest sounds cool too, except we dont use that book.
So far I think I'll go for
+ spellcraft
the arcane might power
+ int
the power of headband of conscoius effort

until I get some better ideas
