I'm building a polymorph character based on using the arrow demon as its most used form. Trying to get extra damage by having a huge str rating on the composite greatbow and extra dex damage with the dead eye feat. |
| #2SyltorianJun 12, 2013 12:56:41 | If Dragon Magazine material is allowed, DR340 p.57 has the 3rd-level spell Moon's Change. The bonuses grow slowly by round (+2, then +4), until they reach +6, then decline again (+4 second-to last round, +2 last round). It's shorter than Animalistic Power (rounds, rather than minutes), and available only to druids and sorcerers/wizards. IIRC, There is also a feat (or transmuter variant?) somewhere which increases your bonus on spells that grant enhancements to abilities, but I cannot remember the name and/or location. |

| #4Tempest_StormwindJun 12, 2013 13:37:08 | I'm also looking for a way to enlarge myself as an outsider. Arcane Disciple (Strength) or related add-a-domain-to-an-arcane-list methods to get Righteous Might. Eventually, Extra Spell can be used to learn the wu jen's Giant Size spell. (Sadly, Expansion is the simplest option - cheaper than both, and has the ability to reach in between them for an intermediate cost - but it's psionic.) You should also probably be using an energy bow - auto-adjusts to any Strength score, ignores DR, infinite ammo with good base damage (but can still fire specialist arrows like that Spell Storing quiver your mage has been loading up with situational spells), and most importantly one of the only ways to pull of Power Attack with a ranged weapon in 3.5. |
| #5daedhaedJun 12, 2013 14:33:57 | And you don't even need power attack. I'll see if my DM will let me port that over to a greatbow and add sizing to it. Right now I'm using a bow from MIC that adjusts to str score. I also need to add speed to one of my bows. The RAW on symmetrical archery is just nuts. |

All of those are enhancement bonuses. There are also a few lower-level spells beginning with “bite of the” that you might be interested in. A horn of Gorgon (Complete Champion, p132) can be used as an extra material component to increase the strength bonus granted by one spell by +2. Each one costs 575 gp. IIRC, There is also a feat (or transmuter variant?) somewhere which increases your bonus on spells that grant enhancements to abilities, but I cannot remember the name and/or location. Both a feat and a variant exist. The feat, ability enhancer (Dragon Compendium 91), increases each ability score bonus by +2 for all transformation spells. The variant, focused caster (Dragon 348, p88), lets a 15th-level sorcerer or wizard double the ability score bonuses of one transformation spell each day. If you put that all together, you get +40 strength, +8 dexterity, +20 constitution, and +7 natural armor from a single spell. But, you've used up a once-daily ability, a 7th-level spell slot, and a 575 gp item to cast that spell. The persistent spell metamagic feat (Complete Arcane, p81) could make that spell last 24 hours, but it will take some sort of trickery to make that happen since it normally makes the spell take up a slot 6 levels higher. |

That's a nice power-play too, if only once a day. |
