But no penalty to con or cha. Also my Dm is giving us our feats at intervals of four and practice spellcaster is prohibited. He feels feats in factors of four is balanced. That and practice spellcaster is overpowered. I would also like some suggestions on decent feats. I have been looking at summon elemental, demon mastery, and a fiendish feat that adds extra evil creatures to your list. Can people suggest races, feats, and ways to work with my Dm around the practice spellcaster. |

So for you it would do absolutely nothing as you have full caster level anyway. For a Wizard 2/Fighter 5 it would allow him to cast spells as a lvl 6 wizards (but not provide the number of spells per day of a level 6 wizard) And he's only giving feats every 4 levels? The same as stat increases? I've heard some wierd house rules in my time but your DM takes the biscuit. Ok, as for a race with INT and no CON, CHA penalty I can only think of one. Take the Grey Elf, +2 DEX, INT, -2 STR, CON. Then apply the Dragon Born template, +2 CON, -2 DEX. As for feat selection you should try the Summoners Handbook. I recommend taking Arcane Disciple to get the Summoning Domain, this then allows you to take Thaumaturgist at lvl 8 which is a very good summoning class. You should also use the Rapid Summoning feature in Unearthed Arcana in place of your familiar. It turns summoning into a Standard action for you instead of a full round action. |
| #4Apollo_TheronFeb 16, 2011 8:16:54 | Yeah our Dm is younger and is taking advice from a previous DM. So we have two dm's I guess, since whatever the older one says the younger one follows. Not only that but the younger one does other stuff as well. Can you clarify how the first level of malconvoker works with getting access to spells from the wizard spell list? At my level do I just have 3rd level spells? Because that it what the DM's are telling me. Of course they think spell caster level= spell list. Which is does somewhat, but not to the degree I think they are thinking. Thanks for you input. -AP |
| #5roseusFeb 16, 2011 8:48:00 | Because the first level of Malconvoker doesn't grant a +1 to your existing spellcaster level, you are effectively a Level 6 spellcaster at level 7 - thus you only have access to 3rd level spells. |
| #6Apollo_TheronFeb 16, 2011 12:36:38 | Yeah I just noticed that I can only cast 3rd level spells. I just didn't have My CS with me. I guess I could take a hit on cha. That way my cha and con are the same. Also where are the Summoning durations listed in the books? What is the keyword for something that is allowed to be summoned? How does the summon monster spells determine what you can and can't summon? Thanks for everyones input. -AT |
| #7KruskFeb 16, 2011 12:49:31 | It answers all those questions in the descriptions for the summon monster/natures ally spells. www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/summonMonsterI... Durations for summon monster I.
It then lists possible summons. Things it lists can be summoned. Things it doesn't cant. Some few creatures in their entries will say "Also we can be summoned with this spell". Those creatures can be summoned by the spell they indicate. |
