So my group is starting a 15th level game at the turn of the year and i am looking for some oppinions of the build i am going for

to start with:
Illumian
Wizard 1/ Archivist 3 / Mystic Theurge 10/ Contemplative 1

with the precocious apprentice feat.

this will give me 7th level divine spells and 6th level arcane spells.  with 2 domains

i was thinking of  going 1 more level of contemplative for 8th level divine spells and then either 4 more levels of wizard for a domain or master specialist 1-2 / arch mage 2-3 ( away from book and cant remember when you get skill focus in master specialist i just know its in like levels 1 or 2 )

i have no other ideas on feats and i am still fleshing out all of my spells so any suggestions on either is great.  and witch is the better way to go dual 8s or finish off divine casting and forget arcane till epic?

thanks in advance

I'd like to point out you need second-level spellcasting in both casting classes to qualify for Mystic Theurge, so you'd need a minimum of three levels of wizard to qualify... but I'm guessing that's what Precocious Apprentice is for. Neat idea, actually.

I came up with a build similarly (in the basic concept at least) to this in the past. I did:

Wizard 3/Archivist 3/Mystic Theurge 7/Wildrunner 1/Arcane Hierophant 6

A bit costly in skill points to qualify for Wildrunner, but eighth level spells and CL 16 in both arcane and divine casting is nothing to sneeze at. Just my 2cp Smile

If you know you are going epic, than the Epic spellcasting feat should be your level 21 feat, but that requires 9th level spells. So I would push on for 9th level divine spells before returning to arcane, but that's just my opinion. Certainly getting twice the number of Epic spells a few levels later would not be a bad reason to go into dual 8's.

Also, in the future you should give more information in the thread title. Like Wizard/Archivist dual caster help or something.

Could you give some more information? i.e. What books are allowed, etc.

as far as i know of, all non campaign books will e allowed and not sure how long the game will be goin. maybe twenty or it could push slightly into epic.  but i think 20 is pushing it.

and yes precocious apprentice is what allows me to enter mystic theurge at 4th level giving me a second level spell slot and a spell to cast in it. ( specializing in wizard to get the spell.  but i dont know the school i am going for just yet leaning towards necromancy but not sure ) do you get the one class feature from wildrunner that is needed for arcane hierophant.  ( trackless step i think ) at first in the prc?  im not very framiliar with it off the top of my head.

the other idea i had was going wizard 1/ druid 3/ arcane hierophant 10/ mystic theurge 6 for dual 9's but it depends on how the DM rules the AH and wildshape/shapechange stacking ( i.e. if i dont have wildshape first will i still eventually get it and will AH stack with druid levels for shapechange if i go that route )

While the druid/wizard dual 9s is obviously better i was liking the fact that i would have eights in both druid and cleric on the divine side because i know the scrolls will be available and the ranger paladin spells will be on a case by case basis for getting them in the spell book.

i will let you know if the books allowed are changed and i believe one of the players is going to be an exalted bard for words of creation so i am trying to stay away from UR-priest

thanks

thank you away from the races of wild book at the moment so i couldnt look it up.

so it would look somthing like this:
Wizard1/ archivist 3/ MT10/ Wildrunner 1/ AH 4
that should net me 9th level divine and 8th level Arcane
but if i was going to go AH i think Wizard 1/druid 3/ entry with Precocious Apprentice  feat would net me a stronger overall build getting me dual 9's and wildshape over domains.

weaker over all spell list but i would be able to go into a gish type mode if needed not to mention a decent animial companion/framiliar thing from AH

You could start as a bamboo spirit folk form OA, they have trackless step as a racial ability.

Then you could go Wizard 1/ Archivist 3 / Mystic Theurge 4 / Arcane Hierophant 7, Gives you cleric 14, wiz 12, and at 20th you have cleric 19 wiz 17.  That’s 9th level spells on both sides, which is not to shabby.

you know in my old group we didnt allow OA so i forgot about it comepletly.  That is another idea.  now onto feats.  beside the first level feat i need for the early entry the only ther feat i know i want is heighten spell.  i may get quicken spell or just by a metamagic rod ( lesser ) instead so any suggestions on feats?

If you go with the bamboo spirit folk for the race (great eye on that, by the way), I'd suggest Practiced Spellcaster to compensate for the three lost caster levels for wizard. It's the only thing that I can personally come up with at this time.

Not to be a buzz kill, but I don't thing Precocious Apprentice can be used to quallify for Mystic Theurge.

From the FAQ:

If a 1st-level character takes the Precocious Apprentice
feat, can he cast 2nd-level spells for the purposes of
qualifying for a prestige class or meeting the prerequisites
of a feat?
In the Sage’s opinion, the Precocious Apprentice feat
would not help you qualify for a prestige class or feat because
it gives you a chance at casting a 2nd-level spell, not the
inherent ability to cast 2nd-level spells.

Your DM may rule otherwise, tho.

yeah i thought about practiced spell caster.  it is a good feat but i tend to use it more for a i have a free feat here in most builds rather than a must have.

although i should probably take shape spell and some one to make sure the cost is for it is very low ( its +2 naturally if i am remembering correctly ) for shaped waves of exhaustion.  i have a feelling the party is going to be melee heavy.
