He is one of those guys who likes to see how magic effects people so I'm thinking a trasmutation specialist. He is amoral not sadistic (he'd love it if his arcane dabbling did not rip the subject to shreads but if it happens then he's more "what have we learned" than "OMG what have I done" |
| #2ah_andrasMar 28, 2010 2:46:42 | I'm currently playing a 14th level Grey Elf Wizard. We're using 3.5 characters, and the Pathfinder adventure modules. He's a Wiz10 (Elf Generalist), Paragnostic Apostle 4. He started with a 20 Int and it's a 30 now with a +6 Int headband, and he bought a wish scroll to round up my 23 to a 24 (after 3 level ups). He's got a ton of spells since one of the modules had spellbooks with all PHB spells from 1-7. Also by making a Bocoobs Book ASAP with Craft Wonderous, the spells since have been free to scribe until it fills up With my high Int he took Insightful Reflexes, and I conned the DM into letting him take a version of Zen Archery that uses Int for ranged attacks instead of Wisdom. I'm pretty sure the characters are well over the wealth by level guides. We had 3 other melee characters in the party, so I started out trying to do SoD or battlefield control spells mostly, but it depends on my mood as to I take more or less direct damage spells. I recently p/o'd one of the fighter by doing too much DD, but those opponents were under the effects of Displacement, and I was bypassing the miss chances. Current feats, are Empower, Maximize, Insightful Reflexes, Insightful Accuracy, Split Ray, Chain Spell, ScribeScroll. Previous feats that have been retrained were Craft Wonderous and Leadership (Took a Elf ranger as a body guard when we only had 3 PCs). I took the Elf Generalist 1st RSL, the 3rd level Elf RSL from RotW (+4 fort bonus!), and the 10th level PSL Celestial Spellcasting (Planar Handbook). Spells I have up everyday or immediately available are Heart of Earth, greater Mage Armor, Grtr Magic weapon (chained for the whole party), Overland Flight, Contingent Ray Deflection, Grtr Mirror Image, Dimension Jumper, and Assay Spell Resistance. I usually start the adventuring day with Heroism and Girallons Blessing running also. Important Magic Items I've been using are the headband +6, bracers of entangling blast (not so much lately), MMR extend (1-6), MMR Energy Sub-Elec (1-6), Burning Veil, Caustic Veil, Veil of Storms, Circlet of mages, Horizon goggles, tunic of steady concentration, gloves of starry sky, Bo9S- ring of diamond mind:Mind over Body, Metamagic Wand Grip (wand of enervation+split ray), Wand of Web has also been very handy actually for the Entangled condition plus the spell Escalating Enfeeblement. Some of these overlap slots but we used the rules in MIC for that. The Skin of Powerdamping has also saved me a lot of damage at times, but this guy doesn't get hit often or take much damage. Spells memorized by level 7th- reverse gravity, empowered mass fireshield, spell turning, stun ray 6th- shadowy grappler, chained grtr magic wpn, chain lightning, disintegrate, grtr dispel magic 5th- dimension jumper, illusory feast, moonbow, overland flight, maxed scorching ray or wall of force 4th-assay spell res, heart of earth, grtr mirror image, mass resist energy, wall of ice, wall of fire 3rd-girallons blessing, heroism, icelance, grtr mage armor, protection from energy, slow, empowered magic missile 2nd-fog cloud, mirror image, see invis, scorch ray, glitterdustx2, heroics 1st- arrow mind, burning hands, color spray, grease, lssr orb acid, lssr orb sound, shield. I have a custom runestaff with ray of clumsiness, escalating enfeeblement, ray of exhaustion, and enervation. So I can burn off some spells to power that. Paragnostic special abilities taken were Call of the worlds, energy supremacy, mind over matter, manifest ethos (good) |
