Designing this for a friend. They didn't give me the full details of what they wanted beyond some sort of human divine scholar style character for a high level npc in an upcoming campaign they'd be running. Here's what I've put together so far. I'm uncertain what to put into the character mantle of spells which is among the main things I could use help with. I mentioned the generalities of the Archivist's spell casting to the friend and have the go for the character to know any spell castable by Cleric, Paladin, Druid, and Shugenja. If there are ways to get magic domain with more bang for my buck feel free to mention them as magic domain was the other part that gave me some degree of trouble acquiring without losing CL.

Patron Deity: Mystra.

Archivist 9/Divine Disciple(Magic/FRCS version)/Dweomer Keeper 10.

Note(s):

-I'm using the Magical Training feat to count for Dweomer Keeper's arcane casting requirement.

-Friend/DM ruled that I could give the character Initiate of Mystra.

-Friend/DM has said Signature Spell/Versatile Spellcaster cheese for spontaneous casting is legal so for certain two feats are going towards that.

-Campaign is FR theme but all books are allowed as are web enhancements. Dragon Magazine is discouraged but permitted.

With this level of cheese allowed, casually remind the DM that the Geomancer renders all arcane spells divine, and vice versa :D As does Alternate Source Spell, as does Southern Magician.

I considered alternate source but I wasn't certain where I might roll with it. A wizard Dweomer Keeper would be interesting but it seems like the way the Archivist is layed out I would get more spellcasting options out of it than a wizard.

I think what he's getting at is this: every spell exists as a divine spell. Archivists can learn any divine spell they find. So, with the proper searching, you can get spells from any spell list.

Ah. Sorry it's late my brain must have skipped over that. I mentioned that to the DM actually which is how I ended up with the class options for spell lists I mentioned in the first post. Clerical domain spells excluded all other sources or methods of conversion are unavailable for purposes of allowing the character to expand his spell list.

Sacred Exorcist for DMM ? I'm bored just proposing it, but it's a common goal for divine casters.

A level of Holt Warden can be taken as early as 6th level, requiring only a few skill points and a partly neutral alignment. It's from Complete Champion. Taking this before Divine Disciple from FRCS will let you use the Magic Domain fully, and even pull out some Plant domain spells if that's called for.

The Sacred Exorcist can fuel Divine Metamagic, which although somewhat passe, is remarkably effective. So something like...

Archivist 6 / Holt Warden 1 / Sacred Exorcist 1 / Divine Disciple 1 / Dweomerkeeper 10 / (Open Level)

...which also times Supernatural Spell IV at 17th level, when Miracle can be acquired. Then it's Gate time.

So I'd take (in order) for the Mantle: 1: Polymorph, 2: Greater Dispel Magic (Heal is good enough on a scroll), 3: Forcecage (from Force domain, SpC), 4: Disintegrate, 5: Miracle.

For my Supernatural spells, I'd want Forcecage, Resurrection, Miracle, and Gate.
