| #1Vincent_DranochDec 22, 2012 21:08:48 | December 23, 2012 Human – Magical Training and The Frog God's Fane (Skill Focus in Knowledge: History, or Nature, or Religion) Level 1 – Archivist 1 – Extend Spell and Scribe Scroll Level 2 – Cleric 1 – Magic and some other Mystra Domain Level 3 – Cleric 2 – Persistent Spell Level 4 – Cleric 3 Level 5 – Archivist 2 Level 6 – Dweomerkeeper 1 – Reach Spell Level 7 – Dweomerkeeper 2 Level 8 – Loremaster 1 – Secret: Applicable Knowledge (Ocular Spell) Level 9 – Dweomerkeeper 3 – Initiate of Mystra Level 10 – Dweomerkeeper 4 Level 11 – Dweomerkeeper 5 Level 12 – Dweomerkeeper 6 – Divine Metamagic (Persistent Spell) Level 13 – Dweomerkeeper 7 Level 14 – Dweomerkeeper 8 Level 15 – Dweomerkeeper 9 – Divine Metamagic (Reach Spell) Level 16 – Dweomerkeeper 10 Level 17 – Archivist 3 Level 18 – Archivist 4 – Divine Metamagic (Ocular Spell) Level 19 – Archivist 5 Level 20 – Archivist 6 Items: Somewhat like the items used on the original builds, and we can add Maximize and Quicken Rods to replace Maximize and Quicken Spell from the original Cheater of Mystra, besides that i don't think we need to replace anything else, but any sugestions are welcome. Shadow Weave Magic and Shadow Adept aren't really necessary, besides that my build had covered any other feats of the original builds, so the few things missing of the original builds into mine is some PrC that you guys can replace some levels of Archivist with it. You guys can slightly change the order of the feats too. Original builds: Cheater of Mystra -> community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... Twice-Betrayer of Shar -> community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... My build seeks to merge Cheater of Mystra and the Twice-Betrayer with the cherry-on-the-cake of being able to learn every divine spell, that's why Archivist instead of Cleric. December 22, 2012 Inspired by this old (but gold) build: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... I decided to turn it into an Archivist so i can learn everyf*cking divine spell of the game! But the problem is that Initiate of Mystra feat (casting inside AMF only works because of it) requires 3 levels of Cleric. I still reach level 17 as Archivist, so i get 9th level spells (all of them if i can find each spell to learn), what means my versatility isn't compromised, but my power is (spells per day, any spell effect depending on caster level). The build is something like: Archivist 1 Cleric of Mystra 3 +1 Archivist level or 1 level of a full casting PrC Dweomerkeeper 10 +5 Archivist levels or full casting PrC It ends up: Archivist 7 (or Archivist 1/One or more PrC til 6 levels)/Cleric 3/Dweomerkeeper 10 The feats are somewhat like the original build, i can replace Rune Domain with other Domain from Mystra since Archivist gets Scribe Scroll (that fulfil the Item Creation feat requirement from Dweo) at level 1. This build is kind MAD cuz Archivist needs Int for spells, Wis for bonus spells, and Divine Metamagic/Turning requires high Cha. So i have a question for you guys: Is worth trade the non-MAD and non-loss of caster levels of the original Cheater for being able to learn every divine spell in the game of the Archivist Cheater? |
| #2Tempest_StormwindDec 22, 2012 22:06:05 | ...Speaking of, wow, it looks like the original Twice-Betrayer survived all the board conversions... Just took a little digging to get the original link. As a minor aside, I'm often quoted as saying "Taste the indescision? That's balance, right there." I still hold by this, but here, you're not really comparing choices for balance so much as seeing if a choice outperforms a benchmark. And simply because that benchmark is really well-established, you kind of need a resounding "yes" before it works. |
| #3Vincent_DranochDec 23, 2012 16:45:41 | Now i am merging Archivist with Cheater of Mystra and Twice-Betrayer lol, but i need some help to do that: You guys remember if there is any PrC without feat requirement (or a metamagic feat as requirement, not other kind of feats) that gives you +1 divine/existing caster level and a bonus feat (that could be any feat, or at least a metamagic feat)? It's REALLY important for me finishing the build i've made so far. |
| #4New-ShadowDec 23, 2012 17:44:38 | Knight of the Raven from Expedition to Castle Ravenloft does that, though it is 9/10 casting and gives you specific feats you can't choose. Divine Oracle from Complete Divine isn't bad either. Any particular type of PrC you're looking for? |
| #5Vincent_DranochDec 23, 2012 18:17:30 | The problem with Knight of the Raven is that it loses spellcasting in its first level, and i can't lose more spellcasting (i'm already at 17 which is the minimum to get 9th spells), besides that it doesn't give me the feats i want. Divine Oracle doesn't work either for other reasons. I'm looking for anything that gives me a free feat or metamagic feat, and doesn't cost another feat for that. For example, Loremaster has a Secret that gives me a free feat, but needs a Skill Focus (Knowledge) feat to qualify for (needs 3 metamagics too, but that i already have covered), and i don't have anymore feats to expend. Another option instead a PrC would be a Domain that gives me a Free or a Metamagic Feat, like the Planning Domain that gives Extend Spell as a Granted Power, the problem is that Mystra doesn't give me this Domain, and i can only take Contemplative after 10th level to get a free Domain, which would compromise the order in that i get the feats. |
| #6Vincent_DranochDec 23, 2012 20:54:53 | Well, i realized that taking levels of Contemplative after 10th level wouldn't be a problem for my feat acquisition, BUT i realized too that Contemplative only grants Bonus Domain of my Deity (Mystra in this case), so anyway i wouldn't be able to take the Planning Domain neither its Granted Power (Extend Spell). It means i'm back searching for Prestige Classes. I'm thinking too about alternate ways of getting Skill Focus (Knowledge), because if i don't expend a feat with that and still get this i can qualify for Loremaster without ruining the build. |
| #7Vincent_DranochDec 23, 2012 21:54:33 | Sorry for the triple post, but i finally made it! Thanks to The Frog God's Cane from Complete Scoundrel page 145 to 146 i got Skill Focus (Knowledge) without wasting a feat on it, so i could get Loremaster and its bonus feat! Without further ado let's go to the build: Human – Magical Training and The Frog God's Fane (Skill Focus in Knowledge: History, or Nature, or Religion) Level 1 – Archivist 1 – Extend Spell and Scribe Scroll Level 2 – Cleric 1 – Magic and some other Mystra Domain Level 3 – Cleric 2 – Persistent Spell Level 4 – Cleric 3 Level 5 – Archivist 2 Level 6 – Dweomerkeeper 1 – Reach Spell Level 7 – Dweomerkeeper 2 Level 8 – Loremaster 1 – Secret: Applicable Knowledge (Ocular Spell) Level 9 – Dweomerkeeper 3 – Initiate of Mystra Level 10 – Dweomerkeeper 4 Level 11 – Dweomerkeeper 5 Level 12 – Dweomerkeeper 6 – Divine Metamagic (Persistent Spell) Level 13 – Dweomerkeeper 7 Level 14 – Dweomerkeeper 8 Level 15 – Dweomerkeeper 9 – Divine Metamagic (Reach Spell) Level 16 – Dweomerkeeper 10 Level 17 – Archivist 3 Level 18 – Archivist 4 – Divine Metamagic (Ocular Spell) Level 19 – Archivist 5 Level 20 – Archivist 6 Items: Somewhat like the items used on the original builds, and we can add Maximize and Quicken Rods to replace Maximize and Quicken Spell from the original Cheater of Mystra, besides that i don't think we need to replace anything else, but any sugestions are welcome.
