So recently I have been thinking back on the varius challenges that both my group and the CO boards have done. Eventually I began to wonder if cohorts have experiance like normal PCs do (trust me, I amaware I have way to much tiome on my hands) This came about because I was wondering if you could create an artificer cohort and treat it like a 17 level eperiance well for the purposes of crafting. Is this possible?

You mean experience points?  The points cohorts gets is fully detailed in the DMG or srd under leadership.  Cohorts get a number of points equal to cohorts level/PC level times the xp the PC gets.  So basically your cohort gets almost as much xp as your character, but never has to leave home.  When you hit the level 17 cap, just have your cohort craft every point of xp away to set him at the minumum for level 17.  Repeat until you possibly get Epic Leadership.

If you are talking the xp pool for the artificer, they get that too according to all the rules.

Not only that, if your cohort is a warforged, he can get infinite crafting points.

There is a feat that lets you get twice the craft points you normally do from draining an item, so if your cohort crafts an item and then drains it, he gets an extra amount of craft points equal to the amount it costs to make the item.

It sounds a little sketchy, but I will look up the feat in a moment and clean this up a bit.
