Ive not played D&D in over a year now, and im just getting into a new game starting this weekend. Ive decided to make an Artificer, We are all starting at 6th level and I can purchase/craft up to 13000gp of gear. I can use my full Craft reserve (400 methinks) to craft basically anything that I have the feats for.

So I'm just wondering if there are any new and wonderful pieces of gear that I should know about before wasting it away on qualls feather tokens and endless bags of caltrops.....

Ive got my eye on the Artificers Monocle, and a Dedicated Wright. I'm not sure what route i really want to take for the character but I'm thinking the explodey type of guy with lots of tricks up his sleeve would suit me best.

Well thanks for any help in advance

Make sure you take the two feats to reduce Gold and XP cpst fopr items. Make yourself a pair of gloves with +5UMD. A handy haversack is always useful. Mithral Chian Shirt +1 w/ Light Fortification. Um... and then what ever you need to go the route you want. Either Meleeificer, Blastificer, Diplomificer. I suggest also stocking up on scrolls and potions. they cost next to nothing to make and can save the day in pinch. Cover the bases with things like Shield, Mage Armor, Knock, Fly, Invis., Pro. Evil, etc.

I'd reccomend being a Warforged as well, also taking the feats to reduce time and money during item creation, not to mention you can take Adamatine Body and save some money with that extra AC. Talk to your DM about making warforged components for yourself, that way you cut down on cost and you get bang for your buck.

Read it many times, not much about it on equipment.

Bunko's - list of amazing gear. Also read later in the thread for more cool stuff.

Also, I think Eternal Wands are a pretty good buy! Quite affordable for low level spells.

You know, I've always found that guide (and its predecessors) to be more ponderous and longwinded than mildly helpful.
